First cleans
« on: October 24, 2012, 10:21:41 pm »
I have been using Ecover for first cleans (trad) so using a separate bucket with Ecover in it as some upvc is proper filthy, dont want it in with my normal window cleaning stuff (use Unger liquid).

Anyway, even though the upvc comes up great with Ecover, just wondered if anyone uses anything else that can be used on a first clean with a wet microfibre cloth. Im asking as sometimes the upvc seems to come up a bit dull - probably with all the minerals in the hard water.

Is that the way it is fellas or do some people use anything different that might leave a better finish/shine. Ecover is brilliant by the way (most customers are well pleased with the result), just wondering if there was anything else out there that people are using - other than wfp...

Thanks in advance guys.

Steve

Don't do frames if trad, give them a quick wipe on first cleans to show a bit of willing.
Then later on the customer will pay extra if they want them nice and white. ;D

When I was 100% trad for the downstairs I used any cleaning stuff that contained sodium hydroxide, caustic soda, i.e. Strongarm, G101, etc, and a 10ltr spray bottle to wash it off. I sprayed the stuff on with a hand sprayer, used an Unger wfp flocked brush to scrub the frames and rinsed it off with just water using the 10ltr pump sprayer before trading the windows.

For upstairs, I just used any hard surface cleaner and those pound shop green scouring sponges and scrims to wipe it off. It didn't as good a job but when up a ladder you can't spend all day getting the frames spotless and white when from the ground floor, you cannot see the difference.

To be honest, I tried Ecover years ago and found it............... sorry, but there's much better out there that does a much much better and quicker  job.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.
