slx / clx with fitted tap anyone ?
« on: October 10, 2012, 08:29:37 pm »
Fancy trying my slx with a tap fitted to the pole. Have got the tap that Gardiner's use but wondered how they fit them to the pole. Anyone know?

I just used cable ties. I didn't get on with the tap. It is fiddly small and the push fit mechanism isn't very sturdy. I got through two in weeks because when the hose snagged on a shrub/step / whatever it would pop out and the spring thing would get lost.

Get on with the cable tied slipping.

I needed to remove my tap to get the pole in the pole tube so I use an 2 elastic webbing with Velcro on the end  to fasten it on the pole,This elastic strap stays in the tap hose. AS far as the push fit tap from Gardeners goes you need to push the hose in hard and then try polling it out so it grabs and then rap tape around the tape and hose on both side of the tap.

How do you turn off the supply when the pole is extended?
Do you have to wait until you lower it?

Lower it or walk down the side and raise it.. Small price to pay than having an aqua to heavy and un balanced for me..

Avo re valve at brush head.

That seems a a very good compromise idea to have the shut off valve at the top. Ideal for when you first approach the house and when finishing.

Having that valve trailing on the floor just one meter from the pushfit male/female end of hose reel fitting seems a pain any way. And holding the hose and valve against the pole in your hand seems uncomfortable too.

I think your idea is good.

this is exactly how I have my poles set up.

saves bending down and hunting for tap which I still have for high jobs so open pole tap, extend pole then open 2nd tap but for day to day residential just use one tap on pole head.
