New lesson learned!
« on: October 09, 2012, 06:17:23 pm »
So i did a one off job for an end of tenancy clean on saturday, they were ment to be paying by bacs, i know, i know.
I should only take cash up front before i do the job for one off's that arnt for my regular custards!  :)

Anyway she was nice as pie to my face " oh yeah i'll put the money in your bank straight away etc." well, 4 days later and still no payment  :(

The reason i let then use bacs instead of cash is cos it was the first job i got through a letting ageny that im ment to be on the books with (although i havnt heard from the letting agents with anymore jobs either yet)

So looks like every Fu$%^ers let me down lol  :)

George,
Did the job come from the letting agency, or did the exiting tennat contact you?

Either way, you first point of contact to chase up the debt will be the agency, but don't know howe likely they'll give out forwarding details - even if they have them.

Good luck anyway, I know you'll not do that again

Regards

Dave

Hang on ... don't be too trusting - she said she'd pay straight away. I'd contact her sooner rather than later.

This is a common problem with our carpet cleaning friends. The tenant will have some/all of their depost withheld if the place isn't as clean as when they moved in.
You go down, do the work and get stiffed. Cash only with these jobs. It's one of my few rules that I don't bend.

The letting agency should be able to deduct the cost from their deposit if you are quick.

Who actually instructed you to do the clean? Was it the letting agents or the tenant? If it was the letting agents then hassle them for the money. Job done. If it was the tenants then hassle the letting agents for the new address of the tenants. Say you'll send the bill to the letting agents, as they are in charge of the deposit (they don't hold it though) and if you hassle them enough, they'll give in with the new address.

As a carpet cleaner....

All my EOT jobs are cash... No cheques.. no bacs... No credit/debit cards..

After all you rarely know where they are moving to, and even if they do give you an address who is to say that it is genuine..

Trust no one when they are moving out......  ;D
Everyday this forum slips further from God.  :'(
