I'm not sure why, now that I've completed the lease assignation, but I decided in July that rather than pay £14 000 a year for a serviced office for my commercial FM company that it would be a brilliant idea to take a lease on a shop in an affluent area, convert it to A1/A2 use and run the commercial company from the back while offering domestic FM services from the shop front.
Now that I'm 'pot committed', I realise that I'm going to lose the first 2 years savings on rent on refurb costs and also realise that my labour costs are going to have to go up since I'll have to supplement the office hours since a shop will have to open on Saturdays as well as being open for longer than an office would be if I'm going to capitalise on the rat run to the station. Still, as long as I can ensure a modest turnover of £25-£30000 on domestic services, it means that my 'office' pays for itself rather than being the central cost it used to be.
All that by way of saying that this is the first time I've ever tried a retail presence and any advice at all on range of services, product sales, marketing tips and even partnering opportunities (I'm going to be based right beside Mortlake station, if that means anything to anyone) would be warmly welcome.
