WOT!!! Are some folks not as geeky as me?
Ok. Ping = latency. That is how long it takes to send a packet of data and get it back from a site or another computer on the net. Its measured in milliseconds. The lower the number the better the connection.
Tracert will tell you the route your signal takes to get from your computer to a site. There will be a number of "hops" these are servers that take you from one place to another. It will also tell you what the latency of each hop is. You can then see if there are any "bottlenecks" in the route. (and it can have other uses)
NOT that I would know about any of these
You do it from the dos prompt. Open the dos prompt window.. type in ping
www.cleanitup.co.uk hit return and you can see your ping
Do tracert the same way only type tracert instead of ping.
Very secure sites wont allow you to do this though
Yours in geekiness
