Hello all, as above title suggests im very interested in any experiences or advice you may have regarding the above type van.  It will have a 350 ltr tank in it so would like any info  ie will the van still have a good pull when full with water, mpg etc  would people buy this van if they had a choice or would they avoid ?  Thanu all in advance

things to think about :

Payload includes you and other person and tools ,1ltr = 1kg
will you out grow the van any time soon

Its somthing i looked at but will be doin tops with wfp and trad all the bottom.  so in the respect i should b ok for size wise

i've had 2 combo vans with 350l tanks, there are ok however the driving position i dont like you are too low down, the bulkheads are pants you can hear the sound of water sloshing round inside it gets annoying,

the 1.3 cdti is powerful enough to pull 350litres, make sure you get a 2000 model as the payload is higher up to 800kg!

if im honest go for a fiat doblo they are a better van compared to the combo, much nicer to drive, you sit high up which is much better, the bulkhead has sound deadening so you can hardly hear the water sloshing, most come with twin sliding doors and they have the same 1.3 engine but with a bit more power,

350l is enough for wfping all windows, top and bottom

the fiat looks a good van, but its always a question of getting the rite van with a system in it.  the combo is one im very interested in.  what did u get say mileage wise wen it was full and empty.  was the tax cheap ? did u get any problems with your combos?

I've got a Doblo with the same engine in it - 1.3multijet TD. Had it 2.5 years & it's never missed a beat!! I was totally amazed by the engine- it pulls like a train- fully loaded too!! I run mine with a 400ltr flat tank in it no bother. The Doblo is a little bigger than the combo also.

Yes, you're right the 1.3 diesel in the Vauxhall is the Fiat engine. Superb engine and just about un-bustable.
There are lots of Fiat bits in lots of other cars too - the new Astra is the Fiat Bravo and the new Ford Ka is based on the Fiat 500.

Ive got a combo and i love mine, ive got the 1.7di engine so i cant comment on performance. I really love my van tho, ive got a 350 tank in back, i have the crew cab and i just about squeezed it all in with 2 reels. Theres a over head compartment and if you mount some pole holders in roof the poles go in perfectly.

Have you ever taken this van to a weighbridge? You seem to have all the weight over the back axle. (tank and reels)

I have a 55 1.3 cdti and its fine. It has an upright 350 tank which allows plenty of room for any other kit I need. Tax is odd, as its more than a 1.7, no idea why, Its £210 or thereabouts.  It goes ok, its no porsche but it will get you to and from work. The only issue with these vans is if you overload them you will kill the clutch and that will cost you. Get the 2000 model, as already suggested by somebody, and also try to get one with a side loading door, easier for filling tank.

Ive just gone from a transit t260 to a combo ... 3 days in and wish had done it ages ago.

bit short on space for everything but getting there slowly

with transit was spoilt as fitted everything in now just needs a little more thinking.

ive got a 1700d with 600kg payload and use all of the 600kg so prob better going for the 2000 model with 800kg payload bit in fairness to it it dont seem to struggle at all even when fully loaded.

so why are you glad you changed from your transit , as you know we have just got a traffic which julian hates and as put me in charge you finding a transit (got to be a 300 glx) ect ect ect but we have a 100o lt tank but this would go in a vito or alwb expert wht the change of hart from the tranny ?

ive got the 1.7cdti 2000 model. i made sure i went for the higher payload. ive only got a 350ltr tank in and theres plenty of space for hose reals etc. absolutely brilliant little van, my only tip would be to try and find one with a side loading door. mine hasn't got one and its a real pain in the backside sometimes changing the resin in the DI vessel and getting to the leisure battery.

I weigh 17 st and fit in it no problem ...
