Im trying to rig up my new van, I've just done the 1st coat of protecta coat. It looks crap and I was wondering if anyone puts anything down (rubber floor cover) or something to make it look more clean or is this a bad move considering water getting under it?

Or any other advice on improving the rig would be great, on my previous van all I did was have the pump and varistream screwed on side with battery on the floor and di bungeed at the back. I'd really like to make it look smart as its a new van, cheers

find a roofing supplier who sells E.P.D.M,ITS RUBBER USED FOR FLAT ROOFING,get a few sq mts cut and install into van,you can can get some glue of them and glue into postion

Ive got rubber matting ( with holes in ) over the protectakote in my van.
For me, the protectakote is only there to stop water ingress an to stop the floor from rusting, it aint much use for much else.

I used these type of door mats & cable tied them together.

Whys it going to rust??

I had my tank bolted through the floor in my last van for 18 months with no protektacote, when i took it out i gave the floor a  quick wipe over and it was as in good as condition as when the tank went in!!!

The first coat does look poor, (I thought I'd made a mistake first time I did it) but once you apply the second coat whilst the first is still "tacky" (as per the instructions) it should look great.

You definitely need to apply two coats of Protectakote (or however it's spelt) to get the best out of it. Once it's down it'll last ages.

Its  an aluminium chequer plate sheet, attached to the frame as a front panel to hold the heater, pump & controller.

Pole tubes are really handy as they store your pole safely rather than just putting them on top of things in the back of the van.  If you have the space I reckon the best place is up top.  I have mine at the side for now until I get a frame done to attach to the roof

i just have a load of old rubber car mats down in the back of my van.ive never had any problems with rust and the van is 12 years old!!
