Best Window Cleaning Van at VanFest - comments
« on: September 17, 2012, 12:27:13 pm »
Can anyone tell me why exactly did Lee Burbidge, an advertiser on this site, win Best Window Cleaning Van?

I'm not saying anything, just asking.

Really.

What was it judged on exactly, as in my eyes, the best van would be the one that earns most money. We are in business after all right?

No point having a nice shiny van, expensive system, cleanly stored expensive poles, clean floor etc if the van is not earning you the money to pay for itself.

An advertiser winning the prize, come on, we are not all that naive are we?!

Lees van doesn't work, it just goes out as a mobile film crew wagon, filming the regular posts we get on here.

Even if it was the best van there, it was a poor decision to award 'Best van' to lee for obvious reasons.
The pen is mightier than the sword (and a lot easier to write with!)

Hi Guys,

The competition was a bit of fun on the day to visitors walking around the VanFest and interacting with each other!

Everyone who visited our stand was asked to walk around and vote for their favourite based on whatever they felt - whether it be graphics, system, equipment, tidyness!

High Shine Ltd was voted the best and let's not forget just becasue Lee produces a magazine for you guys he's still a window cleaner so has won fair and square!

Thanks.

What was really funny was, I walked into the pavillion near the end of the day. As I walked through the door I gave an exagerated double thumbs up to Mitch at his CIU stand.
The thumbs up was for the great day it was and how much fun I actually had....... only for Mitch to say, "you heard then?" and handed me a pole. I think I replied "heard what?"

I was geniunly shocked and happy..... I want to see more of you guys there next year. I have made new friends from this forum at the event.

Thanks Mitch, was a great day.

I'm sure that Lee won fair and square, and offered the new pole who wouldn't accept?
It also clear that his van does work as he has staff, having staff gives him time to do the magazine.
You can't really have a go at Lee about this.

Maybe Admin can offer a second prize to compensate..?

Perhaps he had the "best" van?
It's a game of three halves!

Ever so subtle to give first prize to an advertiser, glad I didn't bother going.
"....and it's lend me ten pounds, I'll buy you a drink, and mother wake me early in the morning."

Put a picture up of your van and we can have an 'in house' competition.

Mine ain't shiny and new so it wouldn't win any prizes, but that's not my vans purpose anyway.

If I had driven 100+ miles like other members and actually wanted to win the prize for the shiniest van I'd be less than happy that an advertiser won the £300+ (?) first prize.

Hi guys

Lee won the competition fair and square because his van got the most votes - simple. There was no way to distinguish it as an 'advertisers' van and we just left it to people to make their own criteria for voting. I didn't get to see the set-up inside and I'm guessing most people voted on the basis of the sign-writing.

As smart as Lees van looked, I actually voted for the Wallace van with the built in air conditioned kennels!

Regards

Mike

Give it a break.....
The bloke won the first prize,he had a shiny new set-up and won it by others who attended voting for him.Now if you wanted to let someone else win the prize then perhaps you along with the other whingers should have attended.Get a grip and congratulate the fella. ;)

Seconded ;)
