ro problem
« on: September 16, 2012, 11:00:48 am »
hi , i have had my new 75 gpd 4 stage prof ro man system for 3 days now. first usage was fine making water as it should. I turned it on last night to make some water and it seemed to be running ok. This morning i went to check on it and it seems to be making water very slowly and there doesnt seem to be any waste coming out at all.My psi is fine at 90.There are no leaks at all. the water must be going somewhere????? Any ideas anyone? thanks

Not a lot of answers to this one ;D

I guess that's because everyone is baffled, as I am.  If you are sure your water supply is uninterrupted and there is plenty of pressure (90psi is extremely good without a booster pump - are you sure it's right?) the only sensible answer is that there must be a blockage somewhere before the membrane.  I have had systems where the carbon block filter has fragmented and carbon pieces have got into the pipework leading to the membrane housing.

All I can suggest is that you take it to bits, make sure there's no foreign matter in the pipes and housings and then re-assemble it.  Leave the pipe from the third (carbon) prefilter disconnected from the membrane housing and connect the mains water up to the first (sediment) prefilter.  Allow water to flush through the prefilters only, letting it go to waste for about 10-15 minutes.  This should remove any loose carbon from the system.  Then reconnect the pipe to the membrane housing and hope for the best.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Call the supplier. They will help you troubleshoot.

Thanks for your help.Found the problem.Traced the waste water pipe back to my ro system and found that a lit cigarette had found its way onto a section of my waste pipe and melted it ,causing it to seal and completely block waste water passing through!!!!!I WILL DEFINATELY BE TAKING MORE CARE WHERE I FLICK MY CIGARETTES IN THE FUTURE!!(TO MUCH WINE!!) ;D ;D
