you can put a simple over flow in each tank if you want to drill into them.
that way you fill the first with you RO or DI then once full it flows in to second.

make sure you over flow pipe is bigger than the pipe from you RO or DI, or it won't flow fast enough.

Join them at the bottom. That way you'll be able to use one input to fill all three and one output/pump to empty all three.  Join them at the top and you'll be in trouble when it comes to getting the water out..

You can find IBC fittings with a quick online search - connect them using the hole at the bottom and you'll not have to drill anything at all.

That one looks very good. I've tried the cheaper versions and they  leak.

At the moment my three tanks are linked a pair at a time via hozelock connectors and one left static on a rotation basis.

The plan now is to get two of these adaptors linking all three tanks and run the final output into the DI unit and then syphon feed into a fourth tank with a two inch delivery pipe for filling the truck tank.

This picture might be helpful:

Notice how the IBC's are linked.

 ;)

PS: It's not my set-up, I hope the owner doesn't mind me sharing it!

Doesn't answer the original question but how about a secondhand version of this?

http://www.ecosure.co.uk/acatalog/Ecosure_5100_Litre_Water_Tank.html

They do come up occasionally on ebay.  A few months ago there was one for £100, buyer must collect.

The difficulty is reaching the bottom of the tank through the lid to insert the tank connectors.

Richywilts, what sort of outlets do the IBC's currently have, and can they be adapted?

Can you not add 3 of these?

I'd suggest three of the black item plus, rather than potentially leaky hozelock,

three of http://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-flo-fit-tap-connector-22mm-x/34980

two of http://www.screwfix.com/p/jg-speedfit-pem0322wp-elbow-22mm/12921#

one of http://www.screwfix.com/p/jg-speedfit-pem0222wp-equal-tees-22mm/12900

one of http://www.screwfix.com/p/jg-22bpex-78028-pe-x-pipe-22mm-x-3m/78028?_requestid=134820

and two of http://www.screwfix.com/p/jg-speedfit-sts22p-superseal-insert-22mm-pack-of-5/92312

Then it'll all be sealed pretty much whatever pressure you put through it.  22mm will give a good flow rate between IBCs.
