alternative to aqua adapter..?
« on: September 13, 2012, 10:09:51 pm »
firstly i love my AD but will admit it can increase the weight on the end of the pole and really it becomes more noticeable when you take it of after using it for a good 6 months i never notice the difference.
It really as saved me a lot of water but unfortunately i damaged it the other week, for those that are familiar with the AD i broke part of the black plastic housing which holds the trigger/switch and the small spring,it was still functional but all be it 85% so decided to replace with an other AD but in the mean time took it off and used a small tap on the hose which was ok but a lot of fiddling in my opinion compared to the AD,then came across the pure freedom pole flow control valve, which sits on the base of the pole used it tonight and i was pleasantly surprised by it and for £20.00 incl i think it may be a good alternative to the AD,time will tell

I have gone through atleast 10 pole taps.
Waste of time and money.
Always leak
Hose twists everywhere and kinks.
I find it easier and quicker to just twist the hose.aqua dapter stuff its brilliant.
Takings off all first cleans till march 7th 2014
October  total=  cleaned  extra per month
November = cleaned extra per month
Total £  so far.

I have the hose outside the pole and I just kink the hose to stop the flow. It's so so so simple and costs nothing.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

It might be better if aqua dapter look at changing the position of where the ad goes, make one that works on the beginning of the pole not the end.

you can't really have AD at the bottom of pole as the pole extends and needs to draw more pole hose through.  They'd have to drastically redesign it to work, which would make an overpriced item even more expensive.

I have a trigger fitted on one pole but the loop of hose can be irritating.

Why not just pinch the hose? I can use the soft gardiners hose like a trigger if I hold it and pinch it when needed.

Pinchin the hose is cheaper and easy but a real pain for me at least. I was always holding on the bloody hose. Move a bin, hose comes with you, move a bike, hose comes with you, untangle a kink, hose comes with you, want a wee chinwag with some custies, hose comes with you. Then when I got back to the van and switched off the pump to move to next job, the excess pressure in the pole hose just spewed out when I unpinched.

Aqua-Dapter is not perfect but for me it's the most convenient way to batter on.

Whats wrong with putting a pole tap on the brush end of your poles, least you ain't got that awful loop or bending down!!

Not having any experience of WFP does this coiled set up seem any good?

The amount of water inside that coil will weigh more than the pole itself.

I agree on this one i have one pole like this and if you need to stop the water flow then just pinch the hose and its ideal for cleaning down stairs windows as well.

I always thought an AD or trigger type device at the base of the pole would be perfect - - you'd need to change the way it operated so that instead of using a valve, it pinches the hose closed. when un-pinched the hose would be free to go up & down the pole as required,.. turn the tap or loose the trigger to pinch the hose & stop the flow.

I guess it wouldn't work with every brand of pole hose,.. and the brands it did work with may wear a little quicker due to all the pinching - - but it'd keep any extra weight at the base of the pole & get rid of that annoying loop you get with triggers.

I use the Pure Freedom tap on pole, but it adds weight. When it broke last week the weight saving was a revelation. Rich with the pink van sent me a tap hoster which I am going to try.

would it be possibly to have a hoster on your belt that all you had to do is clip the hose on to it something like a quick release

That's the way I do it.  It also means you can change poles quickly (if you're really lazy like me and like a short pole for certain jobs instead of a closed SLX).

It also means you don't get all that dirt dragged up the inside of your pole too.

Nothing can break or go wrong with this method either.

I use a remote control, always have and it works great, infact I have 2 spare just in case but have never needed them. For my backpack I just kink the hose.
Both ways work very well. The AD cannot be used with the hose on the outside.
