You're mad mate. You could have bought a couple of decent jetters and tarted them up.

I've held off buying one and held off some more since I bought the H & M but they are a superb bit of kit and I want a bombproof set up in both the vans for what is coming up to our busiest period.

I have never bought a brand new machine, in the entire six years we have been doing supermarkets. More and more now I am being expected to be somewhere and we are getting busier and busier.

I can't afford to travel for four hours and a machine let me down. I am expecting to buy another one by Christmas for the third van!!

I have bought the Cox reels and additional lances so I have the entire set up.

Another by Christmas? No Dominican this year then?  ;D

I know what you mean though. There's always problems and we've all always gotta keep on top of maintaining them.

Discovered the pump on our Lombardini is a Bertolini Pump. It starting losing oil on gearbox last week and we couldn't find where from so presumed it was the gasket. Today we've noticed a hairline crack. Getting it stripped down on Monday and welded.

Will you need to dismount it?

I'm sure you are happy with your purchase but I have to say looking at the spec it is massively overpriced for what you get, it doesn't even have a water cooled engine

All I can see going for it is it's portable.

I would buy another H & M if I knew where there was one for sale, I looked at the Zeta pressure washers but they just don't do enough flow, Commando only go to about 28LPM.

I am looking for a twin operator pressure washer that has a reasonably small footprint, the H & M has heat but it fills the van and there ain't a lot of room for anything else-

H & M 35LPM @ 3000PSI
Thor 41LPM @ 3000PSI

When you split the H & M you get 17LPM on each gun and the drop is noticeable
When you split the Thor you still get 20 LPM on each gun - it is a twin operator unit and that is what I need.

I work alongside another company and sub to them regularly, they have one, it has had two niggly little issues in the three years they have run it and will do drains easily.

I need a multi use machine that is going to be running for up to ten/twelve hours every day, with a 15LPM additional machine, that has Hotbox attached I could combine the two on the new joining cuffs I have had made and have 60LPM if I need to.

I know what the machine will do and how it works. The whole package including two reels and guns has come in just shy of 8 grand, I don't spend that much money without taking advice from my service people and they have been telling me to get one for two years.

It wont be dismounted but if needed I have ramps as it is a heavy piece of kit.

When the Thor is put on full revs and single operator - with a 18 inch whirlaway attached I am told it will hover at waist height.

Our 18 inch is immense on 30LPM 200Bar, it lifts off and hovers. 2 x 1504 jets. Now the 20'' Floater, that's no longer a floater!

Mike

I've got along for five years with cheaper options, on more than one occasion I have had to return to base, with two broken pressure washers and swap for two more.

My work is not like most on here, who can tinker in their garages and work locally or in a reasonable radius.

We earn really well from the work but for that the client expects end product & reliability. I can clean everything, on a supermarket, with a three man team in five days. Everything!

I have a great machine in the H & M and I also now have the support of an incredible machine in the Thor, most of you don't do drain jetting so would never need the flow rates I work with but to have 35LPM minimum on pressure washing speeds the process up massively, I don't blow away a little lichen, Algae & moss - it is as hard as pressure washing will ever be.

I went to a store in Pocklington - York on Friday to clean a small car park - 300m2 or thereabouts, pristine Tarmac that wanted a little dust cleaning off. They weren't ready for me.

Sunday when I went back to do it it looked like a farmers field because all of the landscaping had been worked on.

Just over six hours later it was back to as good as new but it took 12000 litres to get it done that quick, if I had a lesser machine it might not have been as clean and I would have still been there on Monday.

You get what you pay for and I pay for reliability. The cost is relative. The Thor is probably the best portable cold water pressure washer that you can buy in this country. If there was another I would buy it. For a single operator unit it would be expensive but it isn't and can still give each gun 20LPM.

If someone knows of another that will match its performance I would be interested to know but I haven't found it yet. having stood next to one and seen how it operates and the build quality I do know what I am talking about.

There will always be cheaper ways of doing things - I don't need to go down that route!

Rob,

You talk about two man machines, are you just running splitter hoses off the pumps? What happens when one man stops spraying? He obviously gets the full 40lpm and that could be tough if hes not expecting it. have you looked into setting the pump up with two unloaders? There must be a way?

Matt

On the outlet of the machine I have quick release and the splitter is connected there. They aren't the trailing hose ones like Lee has had made they are brass & stainless steel.

With the H & M it is less of a kick but still noticeable when one man gets the full flow. It is obviously a bigger kick with the Thor. When I go and pick up the machine later I will speak to the service people and see what they say.

Thanks Rob really nice

With respect you added this post, for what reason  ???

I am surprised via you choice as dual pump prices are crazy, (there are other company's out there which can make sim spec machines at far lower prices -surely you know that)
BUT if you are happy with paying it far play! Good for you! But dont go all arsey when some of us are surprised.

As for all the normal quotes 'been here there everywhere'  no money in the world will make me go national and run around like a blue arsed fly . BUT again its your choice far play!
Before I started this company I was a design engineer - contractor working in Aerospace / automotive industries, working all over the UK plus stints in Europe the money was fantastic - However it cost me my marriage plus most of my money!

Hence the reason why I stay local (3 counties) just blowing away a little lichen, Algae & moss  - that comment really hurt  ;D ;D  ps we also blow out a few weeds  ;D

was it 3000 or 300m2 of tarmc in 6 hours mate? I could do 300 in 6 hours myself on tarmac using 15 lpm to be honest mate, did a 600 m2 drive way the other week, block paving, 2 of us, 6 hours, 15 lpm each, ogt rid of weeds, moss, the lot, rimsed down, everything.
if i was using 40lpm i would expect the job to be cut by at least 40 percent to warrant using that kind of machinery, ive seen a thor, it had a hatz diesel engine on it, used for cleaning poultry sheds, was in the pressure washer place when i went down, they where making a twin 21 litre hotbox for it, nice bit of kit, if you have the money, have you saw the interpump 4040's? 4000psi @ 40lpm, maybe you could buy one of those and get one custom built and save a few quid?

Rob,

I'm running 21lpm @3000psi. I was just curious, because i was under the impression there is a way to split the flow so that each is independant from the other. Im just not quite sure how you would do it. You might need a special pump, if so, you could get it put on the Thor instead of the standard one thats on it.

If i ever went bigger than 21lpm, or wanted twin operators, id be looking into that, because getting 40lpm of juice without warning could do some damage to the operator, and whatever its aimed at..  :o

Lee, that Thor is Lyndon Page's from Ramsbottom. Paul told me today that he's after selling it. Not sure how much though but it set up for 2 lances.

Matt, you can get an unloader called a K1, which are classed as flow sensitive unloader valves. When one man lets go it doesn't unload the full flow on the other man's lance.

There's another guy who uses Paul's who has a set up with a 100LPM pump set up on 4 lances giving 25 each.

I have a Harben 54ltr/min @ 4000 psi, pump made in BRITAIN and will run on grey water, will run dry without damage - a proper piece of kit ! Obviously mainly a drain jetter but they also do massive FSC's to suit their machines. I recently cleaned the drive of the bloke's (who owns GSE and the old BSB team) drive with the gun and did I ache the next day. It used approx 15 ltrs of diesel in the day on a 45 hp engine. I paid £8k for a secondhand machine ;)

It isn't coming from Dual Pumps and I have got a trade price on it. I am having lances made to suit my height and the Cox reels don't come in cheap. There is a good bit of VAT on the purchase.

Certainly got some posts. Looking back on the post I don't see anything in it that would be detrimental to anyone and their businesses who might read it and there wasn't anything in it to say my willy is bigger than anyone else's, other than that I have the money to buy the kit.

Been here before though haven't we - you have interpreted wrongly an honest post.

Kenny -300 m2 i don't doubt that anyone on here can clean 300 m2 - as said this was like a field and took a grat deal of time

Carl - i would have bought that second hand ;)
