ways to get more work quickly...
« on: September 05, 2012, 11:11:34 am »
i started with nothing but a van, pole, hose and tank 2 years ago, i am now 20.
ive got a round at the moment that brings in roughly £1350 a month( wich isnt bad) however i do driveway cleaning etc. so its more like £1700-£1900 in the summer.
basically i am wanting to put more time into getting my monthly round upto the £2000 a month mark and want to do it fast, whats the best ways to gain work quickly?

ok you want another £650 a month so to keep it simple lets assume £10 an average customer which means you need 65 more customers or to make sure lets say another 80 customers (one off merchants / cancellations etc)

First thing you need to do is to set a deadline and work backwards from it .... lets say by end of November for arguements sake.

So thats Sept, Oct, Nov or 12 weeks in simple maths so now you need another 6.66 new customers a week.

If you canvass 6 hours a week for next 12 weeks you will do this with ease .... possibly just by dropping 8000 leaflets will get you what you need.

A quick tip is to knock 5 houses either side of the one your doing ... you be suprised how many neighbours u can get

Good Luck !!!

well when you break it down like that then it makes sense! i have just orderd 10.000 double sided full colour leaflets and should be with me in the next few weeks, i leafletted my first 5000 and gained approx £300 worth of customers wich i was happy with! so i guess do the same again with more door knocking! thanks for your reply.

A good round takes years to build, you may go mad advertising, canvassing, leaflets etc, but you will find you have a lot of sifting through time wasters, bad payers, work others wouldnt do !

I think a lot of new starters give up soon after starting for the above reasons, you have to have a long term business plan, and realistic expectation of what can be achieved.

Canvassing has always worked best for me.

Last week I had very little work that was due, so I went out and knocked a few doors, from which have I picked up 9 new customers.  :)

unfortunately its canvassing have fun ;o

.. but do yourself a favour set a first clean price and try and stick to it no matter how much you think the customer wants it regular keep it at least 50% the price of the regular clean dont fall into the trap of single valuing someone cos you think they are gona be sweet those are the ones who cancel first!

for those who still canvass im sure most will agree if its monthly work you are after im talking serious monthly work that ship passed 5 years ago

its murder out there people just dont want to spend money as much as they used to
in order for you to have a higher retain rate i would recomend 8 weekly cleans and tell em the 2nd clean will be a bit sooner (thats just so you can find out if they really are regular as establishing 8 weekly work is a pain) but reassure them after the 2nd it becomes 2 monthly the customer saves alot of money you end up canvassing more but in return you should have less cancelations

gl 2am crap gota be up in the morning!

still getting monthly work no problem in fact thats all we offer but been going 2 1/2 years so pretty full and guess can afford to be choosy.

My thoughts are if someone wants a window cleaner its because they take a pride in their property and are into clean windows so will be happy with monthly ... we just say its £xx a visit and were in area once a month.

If an existing customer wants to go bi monthly and we want to keep em then yes we will do it with a price increase.

yeh i try and just stick to 4 weekly on domestics as it is hard getting them done sometimes as i try and get my round done in 28-29 days each month... then that gives me a day or 2 for rainy days!

intresting stuff times r defo harder out there 1 in 2 wana know how much this how much that not to regular...it never used to be like that, im finding monthly extreamly hard so never push it the main problem with monthly i find is after 2nd 3rd clean the novelty wears off for some,

im pleased you are maintaining alot of monthlys wish i bloody could..

i still stick to my theory that the north cares more about keeping windows clean thats where you are right ? ;D

Haha yes up norfffff most windys clean every 2 weeks! I never do any less that 4 weekly though, down south the only reason they want you every 8 weeks is because they have to have week long baths because of the water drought;)

Used to do monthly years ago, but found 6 weekly better becauseI explain to new customers that after 6 weeks, the windows are dirty enough to need a clean  ;) Very few customers lost as a result.

It means you need more customers, but makes the biz more stable.
No still don't understand, I must be thick
