Here's my headache for anyone that can help...Fitted new Shurflo pump. All wired correct. The first time I tested it no problems but I had to fix leak at DI, all done so re tested but no water coming through so I disconnect the DI but still no water, so I cranked pump up which motor was running fine, still no water and then pump stopped and was flashing 'p'. instructions say p means max pressure reached but nothing more, no troubleshooting on how to fix.
With mechanical trouble shooting the first question we were taught to ask is what changed when things started to go wrong. If you can't find the problem this way, then start at the very begining and work forwards - in our case the tank, tank outlet, pipe to pump etc.Once you have identified and fixed the issue - which will be something minor, the next important thing to do is fit an isolator switch on the positive (red) wire from the battery close to the Varistream. Then at the end of the day switch that off. A Varistream consumes power even when switched off which takes about 25 amps from an 85 amp battery over a period of a week. This works fine. http://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-1-gang-10a-switch-ip55-240v/47152You just need to wire it up correctly so it opens and shuts the power supply.Spruce

I've got a 4,5 year old digital one, and I've never had any problem running it off the van battery, even after a 2 week holiday. That's without isolator switch.

It could also be air pressure reached. It sounds to me as though you either have a blockage after the pump, or you pump is sucking air between the tank and it, usually at the strainer couplings in my experience. What happens if you just run a short hose from the pump? If you have a tap on the tank, have you switched it on/opened it?If you disconnect the pipe at the di, does the pump run and pump water. If it does then the problem is at or after the di. We have had several issues with auto stop hoselok type connectors not working properly and this seems to be a fairly common way of connecting up the di.Spruce

I am doing the wfp walk of shame today, it turns out, I was using a stop hose lock connector on the piece of hose on the outlet of the pump without a male/female tap nozzle fitting! I never even knew what a stop loc connector was, oh well another lesson.
