I'm confused ? Still gotta pay tax on it so cash or cheque fine by me as all goes thru books. Don't we all do this ?

I'm not sure about that. In the sense that if the tradesman is VAT registered, he would want to claim the VAT back on the value of the parts/supplies. It is about tax evasion and to me it seems a way of deflecting attention from the tory backers. First they attacked celebrities and now it is tradesmen.
