« on: July 21, 2012, 09:43:14 pm »
As above really folk. Need to buy one and there dosnt seem to be many second hand ones about at the moment.

Also it will be run with a 15lpm machine, what would be the most suited size for my machine, would it run a 18" well?

Thanks.

Ive just ordered a few bits from the states directly off ebay, no mention of taxes?
I;m thinking about getting a 12" whirlaway myself, they work out at around £95 all in
How will I know if I have to pay tax?

you might have to pay a import duty tax. i have imported lots of car part in the past so i know you may have to pay it.
the duty % is different for different product categories and different value bands. the value of the goods will have to be over a certain value to qualify for import duty with any luck you may be under the limit. you will however have to pay vat on top of your purchase at the current rate  >:(

Hmrc will have more info but there so much on there you might struggle to find what you need.

how will I kknow if I have to pay it though? I mean, if I just order it and it gets delivered then should i expect a letter or something? I mean, I wont be informing HMRCA of any purchese that i make from the states so how would they know? customs?
i used to import quite alot from china and never ever got a letter or anything... large boxes of shoes, sometimes as big as say a large microwave

a delivery firm will pay fees for your when it gets collected form the shipping yard and then these fee's will be passed onto you.
the last time i got charged i had a letter through the door from parcel force saying they were in possession of my goods and i owed X for import duty fees. i then rang parcel force with the letter ref, paid my fees by card and booked a delivery slot for the following day

No its held at the depot until the duty plus vat is paid - don't forget the goods have to have a declaration filled in prior to entering customs. Ask the supplier to put the goods down as agricultural parts as the rate of duty is lower. I have found there is'nt much in it given the exchange rate - thats why berril mox dos'nt come on here offering "advice" anymore
