This might be too late, but...
« on: January 20, 2006, 11:22:38 am »
Im off in a few hours to quote for a apparently "very" soiled shop floor. She said it hasnt been cleaned for 10 years.
The size is approx 24 meters by 15 meters.
I have only done one small shop floor in the 9 months I have been trading, and i am a bit stumped as to the rough charge that some of you on here might charge.

For your info I use a TM and my dad who comes along uses a Alltec Advantage if needed.
Any info on a rough idea as to charging will be appreciated.
If you dont want to reply here I have a Hotmail account @

Thanks in advance

Hard to call, due to being in different part of country. Things to consider. Never been cleaned in ten years, Why? could indicate tight owner. New owner shouldn't be a problem. Parking for truckmount, when can it be done, how cluttered is shop, do you need to move display cabinets etc, all extra time. Best thing to do after taking every thing into consideration is to decide how long it would take and what you would be happy to make on job. Could be anything from £250 to £1000

Thanks John.
The shop is being refitted now  and so apparently there is hardly anything in the shop atm. The clean needs to be done next week.
As you say perhaps it is best to work out by the amount of hours it will take.
Thanks again
Ben

I would charge £720.00, but it depends how desperate you are for the work.

It is NOT going to be easy if it has not been cleaned for 10 years, is there any chewing gum??, prequalify the client as to the type of result that you will produce as she may expect the carpet to look like NEW (I do not think!!).
I get better looking each day!!

Did the quote. It was much smaller than she said on the phone. It was 950sq feet in total and got the job next week for £310.00.
tnx for the help.

hi there

so 950sq ft  about 95sq metres,

ok not huge, but setting up time is the same whatever job you do.

like i have always preached, quote each job at the price at which you are happy, why go and do a job, that doesnt earn any money, or worse you loose money.

customers fall into a number of groups,

one group is --- wants the best job, but wants to pay nothing,

and another group -- wants the best job and is prepared to pay an amount to have ot done properly.

there are also number of other groups, ones who want a quick job, and cheap.

so, if another company wants to do the job for less, then let them.

We quote each job that we do, and if the client wants to pay, then GREAT, if thay dont then thank you please go elsewhere.

it does amaze me how some people do work for so little.

anyway have a great weekend

regards

martin
