First cleans
« on: January 18, 2006, 11:25:11 pm »

Starting WFP tomorrow and I've noticed from past comments it takes
up to 3 cleans to get the windows perfect. I know some of you do this
over a period of 3 months but is there any way of doing this in a day.

If I did a row of houses and went over the windows again after a couple
of hours would this make a difference.

  Thanks

  Doug

Here here , as long as you give them a real good rinse you should be ok , it might pay to wash and rinse as norm and then rinse again an inch from the top of the glass .
It also depends on how anal you were when you did them trad , i used to be real thorough so the change over was a single clean only , all those hours wasted on being a perfectionist paid off for me !

i heard on another post that on the first clean, spray pure water on the window, then squeegee off, which then prepares the window for the wfp

Make sure all the frames have a good scrub and rince then go back to the first window to clean the pane.
Give this a good rinse and it should be ok.

This is what i have done and never seemed to have a problem.

Been back to a house today i started last month whos windows hadn't been cleaned for about 3 years. Did just what i said above on 1st clean and i checked them today to see how they had come up and i couldn't find a spot anywhere.

windows that havent been cleaned for a long time are easier as first cleans than regularly cleaned ones the trad way. its the soap suds trapped in the beading around the edge of the window that seeps and bleeds onto the glass.
the more you rinse the better the results. concentrate on the frames first and then the windows second.
you will have to let the windows totally dry in between cleans to have any effect but in my experience you should be allright on the first clean if you rinse untill you can no longer see suds on the glass.
it does take a lot longer on the first go, neraly twice as long so wait until the next time you do them to get an idea of how much quicker you are with wfp, not even mentioning how much you safer you are with your feet planted on the floor,
all the best.

And don't forget to attach a hairdryer to the Pole on the first clean, to see how the windows come up like, dry ;D

When you first start out you will struggle to get them spot on first time around, it's the learning curve thing :-\
It is more than possible to get them right from the very first clean, and this gets easier as you become more experienced.

It's all very well to say, 'Yeah, course you can get it right, just scrub and rinse really, really thoroughly'.
But if you are only just starting out in WFP mode then it isn't as easy as it looks!

But it can be done, takes longer, uses more water and you usually have to go back over the windows a couple of times.

im on my 3rd clean now, the head of the frames are important, get them clean but watch them vents, stay away. patio doors were my big problem i was advised on here 2 do them soon as you get round the back then agian last, watch the vents in patio doors, night mare, some times dry scrim head if its spotting previous time. good luck, its the best move i made. ;D
