I had to buy a new brush the other day, so at the same time I thought i'd renew my hose for my CLX as it was snagged and the male rectus fitting was leaking slightly. Ive got the hose onto the brush, but for some reason I cant get the hose to fit onto the pushfit flow valve. I can get the old hose in and out of the valve so the valve isn't faulty, but the new hose doesn't seem to push in, it seams a bit more softer than the old hose? Any advice please, what am I doing wrong?!

Are you sure its not to big mate , If not and its warm were you are and the hose is to soft just leave it in the van  overnight , and in the morning it will be cold . Mike

I do this to get the brush connected to the hose, but would that work for this valve? The new hose is the same colour as the original hose but seems a lot softer when you squeeze it compared to the old one.

Not 100% sure though as I didn't order the hose online, I just called them and asked for replacement. On my invoice for this new hose it says 8mm OD standard pole hose.

Have you tried cutting the end of the hose off a little, the end you're trying to fit may be damaged......you could also try reversing the valve, one side might be a bit more difficult to fit

Have tried both sides of the valve, doesn't work in either. It slides in but doesnt click in place like the original hose

This sounds like you have purchased or been sent slightly smaller OD hose. If you are trying to use hose that has an OD of less than 8.0m then although it may look the same it will not connect properly with the flow valve teeth.

The solution is to either get the correct size 8mm hose or to fit John Guest stem to barb adapters as below:

No these are simply used to connect to the 8mm push-fit flow valves where the hose is undersized. You would still need to use a quick release coupling like a Rectus21 for connecting the pole to the hose reel.
