Canvassing
« on: May 21, 2012, 09:47:09 am »
I have set aside 4 days this week to canvass. On one of the days ,there will be two of us doing it
I'm not a professional canvasser but I have built my business on my own canvassed work without ever buying a round.
This may not be for everyone and I know it can be a huge hurdle for some folks to gather the courage just to knock a door.
I have set myself a realistic target of just 20 new customers and plan to let you all know how I get on(warts and all)
This is going to be the motivational tool I need to get out there and get them, coz I have now told you lot about it. :o
This has probably set me up for a fall, but the way I see it, if I dont try I will never know.

I will be starting at 1130 most days and finishing about 16.30/17.00
I will be in uniform-company fleece and t-shirt,clean shaven and nice smellies.Trousers and clean, polished shoes
Stack of leaflets and new customer forms
I have a sheet of A4 paper with 20 boxes on that I will colour in as I get each new one(another motivational tool)
My lovely lady has promised me a special treat if all the boxes are coloured in(what-you need more motivation? 8))
Have installed my PMA and am ready to rock

Will keep you posted

Roy :)

I would also keep a track of those in and out and maybe canvass one evening to catch all the ones you dont get in during the day....

A list showing how many you have spoken to and how many jobs you get is a great motivator, plus you can work out how many people you speak to to get each job....

last week I canvassed for a couple of hours. I put no's and outs on one sheets and new customers on another. Was actually a great marketing tool because when I had about 20 outs and 3 say yes the next lady I spoke to I showed her my little yes sheet compared to my big NO sheet and she felt sorry for me and put and extra to pound on her house! ;D

I also need motivation to get canvassing this week so if you fancy it were can compare notes?

One thing I've noticed today that I never noticed before is the amount of vans out with poles on the roof. I've seen 4 water fed windies today. Never used to see them when I went out a couple of years ago. Oh well I'm sure there's still the same amount of dirty windows out there

They might have the tools but do they do a good job with them  ;) ;)

Went out this evening on a close near where we have a few houses to do on Friday.
Woman says "Of course we have a window cleaner - everyone has a window cleaner don't they- well they all have in here"
Picked up a £12 and a £18 every 4 weeks out of 20 houses.
So it's true "NOT EVERYONE HAS A WINDOW CLEANER"
Good Luck

I went out for a canvass before for an hour and I picked up one job on a new build estate of about 30 houses. Most pointed at the houses still being built and said that once they were built they would call. Anyway one phoned me at tea time to book me in. I thought wow, they got the roof on, windows in and all the rest of that work do in 3 hours!
Hopefully pick more of these up over the next few months
