Ink on Blue carpet Tiles
« on: May 09, 2012, 12:22:17 pm »
hi guys,

i have a rather large office area to clean on thursday, and there are several ink marks and one extreamly large ink spot. Customer thinks its from a photocopier machine. In the past i have used solvex with good results. Is there any other good Products you could recommend me to try?
Many thanks
Luc

Luc,
You say in the past you have used solvex with good results, so what are your reasons for wanting to try some thing else ?

Just beware using solvents on carpet tiles.

You don't want the bitchumen on the reverse of the tiles being "melted" and wicking through. You'll be owning the carpet tiles if that happens. :'( :'(

Cream solvents are the order of the day or if you must use a liquid then apply to towel before touching the tiles.

Amyl Acetate ;)

Will need to test on a spare tile or in a cupboard first but should be OK on carpet tiles.

TBH you'd probably do better to whip the affected tile(s) out and replace them with spares or swap them with ones from under a cupboard or filing cabinet etc.

That's the whole point of carpet tiles :)

isopropanol is what the printing industry use for cleaning their equipment etc. Nothing more effective.
Evaporation rate is so fast that it will evaporate before doing damage to a lot of solvent sensitve materials.

What if the tiles are stuck down?

Eat more porridge!

Then buy a can of spray glue so you can stick them back down.

We do this regularly. There is nothing worse than going into a periodic and finding the client has put a new tile out of the box on a walkway.

We will always lift it and replace it with one from under a desk. Just beyond where their chair would sit. These have usually had the same air/light exposure and similar fading.

It just makes it look so much better.
