Road testing a new Gizzmo
« on: January 13, 2006, 06:18:06 pm »
Hi all.

I am currently field testing what I think will be a very handy add-on to the Freedom Trolley. I have a few places where 25 ltrs isn't enough to do the whole property. We have designed a slot on/pop off attachment to carry another 25ltr container on board as and when required. So far so good :)  Its great because it takes seconds to pop on or take off. To be honest you wouldn't want it on all day but its very handy to have when needed.

Can't give any details or pics yet but as soon as I can I will. It will be horribly expensive though  ;) ;D  And anyone who already has the freedom trolley can use it with no alterations.

Cheers all

Andrew

Funny you should ask that Jouk.

I got asked the same question on another forum.

Heres the answer I gave

No

It is a metal fabricated add on into which you can put a normal 25 ltr container.

We have looked at these containers because of the 30 ltr capacity but found that they weren't very practical at all. You have to lift them using both hands because there are 2 handles. One on each side. The normal 25 ltr containers are much better for our job in that you can easilly lift them onto the trolley with 1 hand. The stacking facility they have is ok if you are say stacking them on a pallet or for storage but they aren't stable enough to stack one on the other and then try to move around with them.

And Dave mate... You are right I should get out more. Got an email a couple of days ago in the office.. it went something like this...

I am very interested in your fabulous window cleaning system. But I am a mere woman with womans needs. Can you please fit it with a heated seat. Put an engine on it and a nice big mirror so I can touch up my make up as I work.

Wont tell you what reply I sent  ;D

Now ladies.. Sarah et al.. please dont get on my case. We really did get that email.  Gave us a good laugh  ;D

Oh yeah a grand for the system and 5 grand for an add on.. hmmm Dave you got me countin the munney already mate  ;D

Oh and Steve.. yes as usual you have a very sensible point. It's a very simple add on to make a very effective tool even more versatile.  I have been contacted by quite a few people suggesting just such a thing and it makes sense to listen to your customers and at least try to accomodate them. So far its working fine. We wont put it on the market just yet until its done a very thorough test... that is.. my round :)

Hello Andrew , i was at my supplier today and was looking at a rather spiffing trolley , i just dropped into the conversation that it looked rather like a trolley id seen on here made by one of the members , and guess what , it turns out it was one of yours in disguise !
There is no stopping this man , hes all over , the company is Vari tech in Plymouth , youll be seeing a bit more of them shortly , they put me in the light with wfp and the service is fantastic , and before you say it , no ,, i have no connection to them !

I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

Now now Matt.. go check your memberlist mate. I am there a lot more than you think. Ok I have to take a shower afterwards  ;D  ;D

Matt me old mate. Actually in a way its all your fault that the Freedom trolley system exists. I had done the rounds of all of the suppliers.. been out with folks using their gear etc while researching how I could get into WFP for my window cleaning and then I stumbled across your site. That sowed the seed for me to go to my brother in law and get my own system made for me. The rest is history as they say :)

Rich..  I spoke to one of the guys at Vari Tech a few days ago. I didnt know they had my trolley.. saw it elsewhere and found out that they were supplying it so I gave them a call. I have to say that I agree with you about them. from our few telephone conversations I believe them to be totally ethical and a great company. Turns out that they had got a trolley from someone I have supplied around 20 trollies to. He has done very well out of it and is also a good guy. He picked up 5 more today. There are a number of people like myself who are determined to bring good WFP equipment within the reach of all window cleaners. I see a lot of mistrust of suppliers around. We are all entitled to make a profit as businesses but believe me the days of massive profits for decent systems are going to be a thing of the past in the not too distant future.  ;)

Oh and yes it is rather spiffing isn't it? :)

Profits!!  Profits!!! what are those?  ;D

LOL at you Dino... round 2   ;D

Actually at the moment its all going in.. nothing coming out. This is a very different situation to the good old window cleaning.

I really am very pleased with the response I've had with the trolley. In fact its all been a bit overwhelming so over the Xmas period much soul searching and planning has gone into a long term commitment to establishing a company with a prime aim of bringing to the market a wide range of products that will be of high quality and at a price which will be within the reach of almost all who would like them.  Things have been set in motion in order to achieve the above. Its good folks like you that will decide if we succeed or fail. I doubt that we will fail though. So.. we can all benefit. I am absolutely determined to end the days of massive profits from window cleaners in any way that I can.. but.. any company does have to make a profit to continue what it does.

Blimey I am going on but honestly I am very motivated to do exactly what I have said.

Ok yeah Matt you can have a shillin out of it mate  :)

Or  would you rather have component parts for DIY systems come down in price?    ;)  Like I said...  watch this space  :)

Just trying to defuse things Andy lol. All joking aside mate, You AND Matt have helped me AND probably countless people on this site, no end. You with the hands on,telling me exactly what to do and how to move forward. I'll always be grateful for that 'cos i know I needed some serious help from the outset re WFP. And as for Matt, he's helped me no end with loads of questions and advice on making what can be a frighteningly expensive venture into something that anyone can venture into. So a big up to the both of you and the next time i see you in the pub, the drinks are on me. What do ya look like?  ;D
