Key element to recycling system wanted
« on: April 30, 2012, 06:19:22 pm »
I can pick up a decent vacuum from the supplier but I want something a bit more, been looking at carpet cleaners, truck mounts and I have a CFR perfect heat that may do the job but is there a diesel powered vacuum available with enough L/S (lift per second) to pull the Tarmac up? :o

What about a vacuum motor from a small sewage trailer tank, they run off a small diesel engine and are the size of a small pressure washer. I thought about one to make a better gutter vacuum

Got a link

Ive found this

http://www.predatorpeople.co.uk/predator_hawk.htm

Just asked them if the vacuum hose can be made smaller, need to know if it will work with water and a couple of other questions, L/S etc

Do you think that vacuum hose can be reduced down to say 1 inch?. How are you getting on with your recycling unit?

Rob - if you really want an electric machine people speak highly of the Mytee range and they do a Flood Hog range (7000DX) - Woodbridge import Mytee - apparently Mytee are working on a new electric truck mount apparently

Other wise there is plenty of expertise in terms of roots type blowers 3, 4 and 5 with tons of lift and using the same motor to drive the blower and power the pump - carpet truckmount machines are generally lower pressure but theres no reason why they have to be - its just not a big priority unless doing alot of T&G - Hydramaster probably do the best value and there are several going on ebay at present

Don't boost his ego mate. He will then have a Hot & Mighty Mytee.

Are you sure you want the return hose at an inch ? You will have to pick up through a strainer or a piece of moss would block the hose surely. I assume you would have the van quite close to the pick up point so the first settlement tank will collect the bulk of waste and then run dry back to the vacuum pump ? I think the upkeeper type of vacuum may be best but maybe run piggyback from another motor to save space. Maybe you could share your ideas but reluctant on open forum, I'm an engineer by trade and have done a lot of development of bottling and packing machines and these projects are quite interesting. I also have worked on road sweepers like shmidt and johnson and these smaller m/c's use a hydraulic driven vacuum units.
H&M also have a clothes shop near here  ;)

Yes but the smaller sweepers have just the one engine that drives a pump and then everything is driven from that. The point I'm making is that parts may be sourced from these small road sweepers and similar machines that would serve the purpose but occupy a small footprint. The old yellow shmidt machine used a diesel golf engine running 3 piggyback hydraulic pumps. My drain jetter runs a small pump on the engine that powers the hydraulic rewind - just thoughts

Definitely not a joke.

I can clean up to 100 metres from the van, there may be no access (due to bollards etc) down the side and rear of the store, so the idea is to wheel the vacuum to a relative point, use say 30 metres of vacuum hose and then discharge it down about 70 - 100 metres of smaller bore hose.

Reasoning is because I have seen the vacuum hose reels that hold 100 metres of hose (@ 2inch) and they are massive.

Rob,
From your post yesterday, it suggested you wanted a vacuum hose of 1" not the discharge hose.
I understand what you are after just not sure if its feasible? We currently have 20m of each both 38mm the space they take up is surprising!

I dont know of any machine which has such a small discharge hose for the volumes of water which you will be moving.. For the life of me cant see how you will fit a recycle unit in your current vehicle.. for the volumes which we use up to 20 litres /min, acceptable vortex is around 300 litres for it to effective from the outset it needs to be full on start up, hence for 1 stage of filtration we have added 300kgs to payload not including additonal filter tank, Vacuum unit, generator, sump pumps hoses etc. - But fair play if you achieve it.

Completed our first roof clean last week ,2 days 100% recycle at 100 microns, end of this wk we have new vortex arriving + inline filters.. after achieving levels <25 microns.
We are also adding a 'T' piece to 'discharge' hose, as if it rains heavily you can harvest more rain than you require .... flooding tanks  ;D ;D

Mike

I am replacing my main water tank with a 500 litre, 3 compartment inlet tank, with all the filtration suspended above it. Below this will be above a secondary 500 litre tank for filtered water to return back to the pump. The vacuum unit will sit on the back doors and so will the genny, below the cox reels (these sit on a shelf already).

Have you done your set up yourself?

Is 100 microns the minimum requirement because I think we are going smaller than that.

You say that the discharge hose will get clogged - nope - I have sourced a self cleaning filter to go into the vacuum tank as the first line of filtration. If I go with a genny powered vacuum, with its own tank this is a piece of cake to set up.

The roots blowers really interest me because I know how much vacuum can be achieved with a truck mount carpet cleaning machine and I think they would cope with the distances that I need, the only downside is the vacuum hose and reel would be very large for 100 metres - your thoughts

How easy would it be to pick one of the small units up you have mentioned?

Rob - we run 48hp and a 24 hp Tm and they both can handle 150 foot at 2 inch vacuum with ease at idle speed plus you can flood a TM blower without blowing it up! cant do than with a leccy one, well not for long - prob not recomm to flood a TM blower (lots of wd40 after) but it happens and I think I am right to say the Prowler built by Amtex designed their system to actually draw water through the blower and exhaust it into a drain or in your case into a filter system if you are still working on that - so you would not need an initial capture tank (vacuum chamber) and would save on one pump at least as the blower would deliver it to your first filter tank (I think John Kelly at Restormate is the UK Dist for Amtex) there are loads of vids on youtube about Prowler and their various models - did you see my post on the floor thread you started - have you found Dultmeir Inc yet on your google searches
