just wondered what you use to stop the cleaning fluid getting on the carpets or the laminate flooring

Heavy duty cotton dust sheets.

Try and launder them weekly as they will absorb a lot of water and smell.

tell them if they have the carpet cleaned at the same time they get it half price, so you get more money and you don't have to use drop sheets

Use drop sheet at all times, wether cleaning carpets or not. 

Some carpets will not take kindly to large wet square item on top and could watermark or distort pile

I know that there is a wet square on drop sheet when i have presprayed and extracted an item of upholstery.................could this not cause a problem on a carpet???
What if a few items were cleaned in the middle of the room and a watermark was caused..........especially if cleaning protected items where prespray can roll off sometimes.
Caution is best exercised on every visit and every job

I'm careful & use a cfr handtool so no over-spray

I also pre-spray with a narrow jet so that usually does'nt get on the carpet. but if they arn't having the carpet done I use a drop sheet with a impervious backing.

Prespray can still roll off protected upholstery, especially the back and sides.
So regardless of NO overspray, it is still wise to advise someone new to take every precaution........................good habits and all that

I always use a heavy duty polythene sheet, and then place dust sheets on top of it.
Nothing will get through that
I always seem to get a lot of overspray when cleaning upholstery, not from the CFR tool, but from my pre-spraying pump up sprayer ( flow tech).
