PLease anyone with a bit of spare time can you tell me from start to finish or a web site that will, how does water fed poles and holding tanks and RO work .I have been reading a lot of post but just so much i don't under stand.Also all that water does it put cost up a lot and is there a lot of waste,where i live we are on water metre's so cost is a big  thing every drop cost money here.

no problem - if you live in an area where the tds (total dissolved solids) levels in the tap water are above you would be better off investing in an RO/DI system - here's how it works.

Tap water passes through a sediment filter (to remove the larger bits in the water), the water then passes through a carbon block to remove chlorine.  Next the water is passed through an RO membrane (Reverse Osmosis) which removes the vast majority of dissolved solids in the water (mainly salts), there are 2 pipes from the membrane, one for product, the other for waste as the membrane cleans itself by flushing water over the membrane to clear any debris etc.  This waste water goes to drain.  Finally the pure water passes through deionising resin to remove the last of the impurities.  If you live somewhere where the water tds levels are less than 100 you can get away with just a di system.

Simple.

Mmm, wouldn't agree, at worst the waste to pure ratio is 3:1, at best it can be 1:1

With the system that a certain Roy Harding has, his waste to pure ratio is 1:1 and his R/O is bringing his TDS reading down to something in the area of 0.001ppm.

A very effective and efficient setup.

If you are on a meter it will increase your bills of course, but by how much will of course depend on how much water you use in a day.
The daily cost of this is very low however.

JM123: What a clear and precise account of the ro system workings,easily understood by a novice[which Im not] but a few "pro" wfp users  wouldnt be able to
explaiin it so well,it works cus it works mentallity.
