Internet Sites
« on: April 07, 2012, 03:09:18 pm »
I'm interested in everyones thoughts on how useful they find their websites are -

How much traffic do you get via the internet?
How many sales (or leads) do you get via your site?
How much effort (or cost) do you put into maintaining your site?

Hi well mine is very new but I guess it depends also on if you want to market locally only, or nationally.
If you just cover your local area, then it should be reasonably easy to market the website using Google Places. Mine showed on page one within 24hours just on my main keyword. Should be able to get it higher up the page once Google send me a verification letter for Google Places.
Fingers crossed.  :)

Great to read your views. Also, it's interesting that each of you are positive about your sites. I assume that means you feel that they have been good value for your money.

Would I be right in thinking that all of your sites are fairly static? I.e basic details plus testimonies, including contact form etc?

Not bad to be honest. Very much what I refer to as a "static" site, in that you post a few details about your company some contact info and then people can search you and call you up / email you. I would say that 99% of cleaners websites fall into this category.

Am interested to know if any cleaners out there have considered having richer functionality built into their websites in order to interact using the technology on offer?

Great to read people's experience and thoughts...

You need a cleaner in your town so you type "cleaner in poopville" and theres your list !
Do you really think I need to have "richer functionality in order to interact with the technology on offer" ?
I get what i need and pay the bills - only just  ;) anyway I'm a cleaner and a technophobe  ;D Don't happen to run a directory / agency and are short of punters eh ?

BDCS no, of course you don't need to have built in to your site. I'm just interested to find out more about people with sites that might have thought about it, as well as understanding what considerations were made at the time of building the site.

So far I have found one cleaner in the country that has direct booking facilities on their web site, and he swears by it. Obviously this suits his business and wouldn't suit everyone. But I'm personally interested in those that might have thought about it and not gone for it, I expect likely due to cost involved.

My personal project that I'm currently working on is to provide this booking functionality for cleaners through a web site. I'm obviously very keen to get views good and bad on this type of function.
