A little bit of a mixed message there.

You really don't want to be plugging a pressure washer into a commercial customers electricity supply and asking them to use their water.

Commercial clients, in my opinion, expect a bowser minimum and a petrol/diesel pressure washer, a self contained unit.

Even domestic I would be loathe to ask them if I can plug into their electric.

Petrol will always be more expensive than diesel (you can use red diesel) and the running costs will be about a tenner per day on petrol & £4.00 per day on red.

If you want to knock on the door of commercial clients, at some point (no need to be buying two machines) then my recommendation would be a 15lpm (minimum) machine, diesel with a minimum 3000psi.

These specs will allow you to offer a superb domestic service and will clean virtually any domestic challenge and will give you the confidence to actually knock on commercial clients doors.

There are a lot of machines always available on Ebay, Hilta, Honda, Lombardini & Hatz.

Keep away from the chinese stuff, may work for a while but when you need a part where are you going to get it from?

Get a service guy to maintain the machine. Make sure it has a return to tank, most pumps are water cooled and you need this to stop the pump from going bang.

People will give you plenty of advice on here, if you see a machine for sale post it on here and let people comment

The other bit of this if you are going to go down the self contained route is you need a water container fixed into the works vehicle, that can be filled at clients premises, how big this will be will be determined by the GVW.

I don't worry too much about gross vehicle weight as I always fill up at my clients address and if the vehicle moves it is only a short distance.

Give you some idea, my machine is 600kilos, there is a further 100 kilos of reels, hoses and ancillary equipment and then a 1350 litre water tank. I am well over two tonnes when full up. The vehicle that this set up is in is a Transit LWB 1500 payload.

I have a 400ltr tank in my van that is on my jetter which was steel and I had a custom hdpe tank made. I had fittings put in so I can now clean windows, pressure wash and run the jetter. I dump the water before the window cleaniing and have 2 Di vessels - 1 with older resin and the second with new and have had no problems going back to pure water.
That said I have most drive jobs run out of a tow van with the tank being a wheely bin as my main pressure washer is a 14hp lombardini twin water cooled diesel which is quite a lump but runs all day on a tank of diesel.
