I still believe it is virtually impossible to scratch glass with a clean WFP brush.  On the very rare occasions we get accused of this, I take a brush and pure water to the customers house, let them examine the brush then challenge them to scratch the glass with it.  I tell them if they can we'll pay for any scratched glass, no questions asked.

No-ones ever managed so far ;)

Go round to her and give her a demonstration, then give her the pole and say to her if you can scratch the glass you will pay for the repair as its not possible to scratch glass with water fed pole.(unless your careless) They were more than likely scratched anyway. I have been accused of this, one customer was just trying it on as the painter had already done this to the glass, the other was brand new windows and yes they were scratched but not by me as they were in between the panes. Above all address the situation and never admit guilt. Let us know how you get on and good luck.

Combination of clean windows and low winter sun will show up any scratches, they were probably there before you cleaned the windows and went un-noticed

the back patio doors on our house look fine 99% of the time, in the right light they are scratched to hell from the previous owners dog.

Same here. I've got some scratches on the living room window which are south facing. Been there since we moved in.
But most of the time they can't be seen, only when the sun is shining at them for an hour or two in the afternoon.
I wouldn't be surprised if this women has only noticed the scratches because the glass has been cleaned and the scratches were already there but not as visible.

I had a custie that tried to accuse me of this a few weeks ago. Yes there were scratches on her window but it was impossible for me to have done it unless some of my bristles are metal!!!

To all WFP users,

Yes, its impossible to scratch glass with any wfp manufactured in the UK, some are plastic and some have aluminium components on brush head.
Aluminium is softer than glass therefore cannot scratch, the only way glass can be scratched is if a brush head had fallen on ground and got dirty. so if this ever happens make sure you brush is clean before starting the clean.

In commercial circles, its generally the archietects or building site managers that blame the window cleaners for scratching glass, this was proven a few years ago in court where it was demonstrated that the brush cannot scratch glass, the point being proven, it was throw'n out of court, but they will always try and blame you or your workforce. Stand up to these morons and say take me to court cos you will not win, ive seen this happen too often, the glass was already scratched before the window cleaners arrived. this happens mainly at builders/fisrt cleans. so don't be soft and stand your ground.
