At that rate you will have 240 at the end of this year.

How many do you want?

Set a target, then go and get them.

CANVAS. CANVAS. CANVAS. then CANVAS some more.

depends what you have priced them at really. If they are £15-£20 per customer on a 4 weekly clean at 30 mins a clean...well keep going. It will probably take you a lot longer to build your round but if you aim for the properties that command that price, in 12 months (probably a lot less) you will have a round we would all like ;)

Leafletting is long term in my opinion. A 1% response is considered to be good and that is my experience. Having said that you will probably still get the odd call up to a year from now from them.

What I would do is if you know where the leaflets went.. I am sure you do. Follow up now with canvassing. 2 hrs a night for a month and you will be amazed at how much more business you will have.

Get out there and knock those doors Andy then you can have a great start to the year and then really capitalise in the spring when the recommendations/new enquiries start pouring in mate  :)

Andrew...  (Now a M'lud I do believe)  someone here will understand what I mean  ;D

Depends a bit on your area Andy. I dont turn down small 2 bedroom places at £8 or small bungalows at £6. Some will say they work to a minimum price but while you are in need and building your round I dont think you are too far out on your prices.

While out canvassing try to get a couple of quid more for them and see how you get on. As a guide if you get around 60% of the work you quote for then your prices should be as good as you will get in your area.  80% and you are too cheap.. 30% and you are too expensive.

Andy i'm also in Sussex and just starting up, I have gained  36 customers in the last 12 weeks, I'm told that 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after christmas are bad times to get new work, I have really struggled with the results of canvassing during that time , but I have put out a lot of flyers and though the return is only about 1 per cent its still progress  10.000 leaflets over the Christmas period may have been a mistake though, I intend have a major push in late jan/feb, I will get there though and so will you if you keep trying.

I have said this before but people are not worried about their windows this time of year. In fact most people have a million things more important to worry about.

But if you keep at it you cannot fail to get more customers and over time your round will grow.

I think the £8 for 2 bed houses may be a little high for the area though, I've experimented with prices and lost a far bit of work trying to push the prices up, in Worthing I'm getting approx £8.50 - £9 for a 3 bed semi and £7 for 2 up 2 downs
£7 for small bungalows, the cheapest job i took on was for £3 for front tops only hardly worth taking the ladder off for untill his mate next door wanted the same now its £6 for 6 windows strange how it goes.

Did you put out the leaflets through 10000 different doors? I find that when doing flyers you are best to pick an area and do it over several times with a few weeks between each leaflet drop, I gaurantee that every time someone will say  "I was meaning to call you last time" or "I've been looking for a window cleaner everywhere".
There is no problem picking up work this time of year, I have just picked up 6 houses in 3 days without even looking, the work is out there, just target a specific area, perhaps have a walk around first and see how many houses have dirty windows, then if there are alot really hit the estate with leaflets over a six or nine week period, it will work even better if a window cleaner has leafleted a few days before you.

Good on ya Andy mate  ;D I am well pleased for you and it must be very encouraging for you.

Just to let you know as has been mentioned above there is no reason not to go out there and canvass at this time of year. Last Jan I did it 3 evenings every week and got well over £1000 per 4 weeks of new business. Go on.. give it a try for 3 nights and then come back and tell me if I am wrong.  Do it between 5.30 and 7.30 PM.  Honestly mate I would love to see you get a flying start to the year and make all that leafletting worthwhile.

There is a world of difference between leafleting and canvassing. It requires a concious effort for the householder to pick up the phone and call you. That is why the returns are so low with leaflets.
But leaflets are kept and can result in a call months or even years later.
Provided you can get your leaflets for a reasonable price, and prices vary considerably, just keep bashing on. Once you get a few results then its time to start canvassing the houses in between to fill in the gaps.
