Still looking for a cheap van / system.

How does this look?

It's in a 7 year old dispatch and is a "2 year old", 2 man, 500 litre Pure Freedom System RO system.

Can view later today so what should I really be looking out for?

Exhaust and clutch is often advertised as being replaced on these models at this age and younger and will set you back over a £1000 for both so if they havn`t been done then expect to fork out soon.Gear linkages are often blamed(bit stiff) but its the clutch itself,though the gear linkage will probably collapse as well.Bottom crankshaft pulleys  get noisy and need replacing before they separate and take the cambelt with it.Most of the door locks have packed up working by this age and regular use.Wear in the front wishbones means they will eat tyres on the inner rendering them illegal in as little as 3000 miles.The pics show the water tank almost empty but the van sits as though its full so the rear suspension has probably reached the end of its useful life.Does it actually start in the coldest weather?Its somebody elses cast off.

Evidence in the service history of these items and more being attended to means of course it is potentially a good buy.Sometimes i forget to state the obvious

I am impressed and will get looked at by a mechanic if all else seems well.

The guy has offered to let me spend a morning with him to see the system in operation so as long as all's well there I might just be asking the mechanic to give it the once over.

Didn't actually get to see it today but should do tomorrow or Thursday.

Any other thought still very welcome.

Always thought the dispatch was a good van. Mine - 2.0hdi - is 6 years old and had from new and been a very good van. According to Nameless Drudge it is due to fall apart in the next 12 months or so. Yikes!!!!!

I also have a 55 plate Dispatch. Owned just over two years. Problems so far, locks, reverse light switch, cat, and sump rotten. Overall though I think it's a good van.

This one is £4000 all in.

Mileage is 110000 so a bit high but I am assured FSH.

a lot of wear can be prevented if you lubricate the locks and the rear suspension too.  i buy an aerosol of  grease with its thin tube extension for a fiver or so and spend a couple of hours on my van twice a year  .  sealed suspension systems  on the rear of vans have bearings that often dry up,if you can get fresh grease in there they should last a lot longer

£4000 for a van thats done 110,000 miles?is that a good price?i havent a clue as ive never spent more than £1,400 on any van or car ever and they usually last me for years with a few repairs here and there.if its with the system then not a bad price i would think.
