Take Scott up on his offer. 14 MILES :o!! That's gotta be one motha of a truck mount you're running there ;D.

My motorala's were from Staples and they have a 3km range. Which sounds sufficient to me but as for several floors up with computers all around ...... I dont know. Scotts kit sounds good.

Tell you what I'll sell you mine and I'll get rid of a pair of Scotts for you.  ;)

I'm in! I've kept all the packaging and I'm going back to staples tomorrow to get a refund.
Will I need a licence to operate them? How much are the Nimh battery packs and charging base or are they included like the set I just bought.

Alan
licence ::) They operate on 462 mhz...the ones you bought are prob pmr 466...the ones sold almost everywhere, but dont reach further than a few hundred yards, providing theres nothing in the way.
these radios are not sold in the uk and are prob not licencable here unless you hold a ham licence, but there will be no problems and have had no problems as of yet....however it is not advisable to use them on certain channels if you leave in clevland, as they can interfere with some health authority frequencies...anywhere else...fine.
The chargers and battery packs are available on order, usualy within a week, and yet to be added to the site...at £30, however, as they are american,a 110v-240v adapter is required...they only cost a few quid...(you can use an alternative charger which is the same or above rating)We will however be advertising the full kit on there shortly..
regards...scott

Hi
Yes the site is mine...I know it's a bit shoddy at the mo, but we're in the middle of setting up a proper one for those type of goods, and it's just temporary.
We host a few online stores, including adult ones :o...but I have been dealing with communication equipment, such as...since 1980...so only import stuff that I know is of quality. I have held a ham radio licence since 1981, so know all about this field.
These radios are new on the market, and are the first of their kind to push out 5 watts, at such an economical price range.
Since my last post, we have struck a deal with suppliers, to also supply, the whole kit, which includes 2 radios, charger, 2 battery packs, and head sets..and these will soon be on sale too...Our aim is to import electronic goods which are un-obtainable or too expensive, or indeed (grey area) in the UK, and resell at affordable prices...I think it is a disgrace what they sell these pmr rubbish for in this country...they are toys.

Croydon.

Tried my (up to 3km range) motorolla's. Managed about 300 meters in a suburban area. thats 10% of their potential!

The range I need is for working in a 21 storey office block with all the associated computer interferance.

Are yours clumsy great things? How do they compare to the average mobile phone in size?
