Clean It Up VanFest 2012
« on: February 27, 2012, 11:48:11 am »
Mike, thanks for the introduction.

Been reading through all the posts about the idea of a VanFest for all Clean It Up members. It certainly seems to have generated a lot of interest. There have been posts on both the carpet cleaning issues and the window cleaning issues boards as well as in "Place to chat".
I will try to keep you up to date with our thinking and planning as it develops.

There have been some great suggestions in the posts, thanks for these, and keep them coming. It is really good to get fresh ideas.

The core idea is still to arrange an annual get-together, a meet-up for all of us involved in Clean It Up. That means all members, the hard working moderators and us behind the scenes trying to enable it to happen.
We are not trying to organise a trade show, or conference, there are several already being run by very capable people.

So to flesh out some of the issues:

Whatever the event is, it needs to have sufficient there to make it worthwhile all of us to take a day out and go to it. So we need to think about what you would do when there, how much fun it would be, and maybe also how to add more interest to the event. To be really successful it needs to appeal to as many of our members as possible.

The venue needs to have catering and toilets close by able to cope with perhaps several hundred or maybe thousand people.

Hard standing for the Vans – grass would quickly turn to mud if it is wet.

And that bring us to the issue of weather, we might get rain no matter what time of year, so the event needs to cope if it is wet, so some indoor space is essential.

We feel it is best to keep the event independent of any one supplier – we appreciate some of the offers for venues, but the Forum is about the members from a wide range of cleaning, and so it is best we retain that focus.
Having said that, happy to have a few suppliers involved in a paying capacity, which would help to fund the costs of the event.

Would be good if you could go to this link and keep the replies there, so we can have them all together.
