So I did a first clean last week and noticed some marks on the first and second floor windows.  They looked like water marks where they had been running off the casement for a long time and left a residue; gave a good scrub and although better they were still visible; I mentioned this to the custy and said that they will get less over time; as is usual I also said that first cleans aren't always perfect so give me a call if any problems.

So gets a call from her today and she mentions the marks/stains again - I said I thought they were water marks.  So she says no, my husband was trying to free the hinges last year and sprayed WD40 all over, it had dripped/run down and that was what the marks were! FFS!!

So I said it would have been helpful if she had told me that in the first place as I could've dealt with it better on the first clean!

Gave them another rinse but no better.  So grabbed some Fairy Liquid and massaged that into the brush head to create a foam and did a good scrub/clean with that then rinsed the frig outta them.  Tons better and all marks gone.

I then borrowed their sink to give my brush head a bleedin good rinse to get rid of all soap.

I should've charged 'em a bit more as it was their fault I hadn't got rid of the marks in the first place.  But I didn't. 

I suppose I should just be thankful he didn't toss the chip pan over the hinges!!

Nice to see you going that little bit further for the custy , and to see you not charge , that should work in your favour if they are decent folk , i learnt that over the years , all i can say is .......just dont get too friendly , that does not work in your favour , been there too !

I had one today.

A few weeks ago I did a full in and out clean on a show home on a designer estate of ten new builds. (very smart).

Anyway I got called back by the new owner to do another clean. When I got there it was clear that it was a bit grubby from the building work that is still going on, so I slapped on another tenner.

Two hours later, two of us were still there.

It turned out that the builders had been using spray on concrete on the house next door, and the overspray had hit the house I was on. The entire side of the house was covered in very fine fibrous concrete spray......DOH!!!!

On the upside, after talking to the owner and the builder, I will be paid handsomley to get all this crud off, as well as nailing the builders cleans for the next nine houses.

These are very smart designer gaffs, so I am happy with my days work.

Quite often being in the right place at the right time really pays dividends - as your case proves.

Part of the reason I didn't charge was because they had already recommended me to their friends - got that one too so swings and roundabouts!

Received a thank you text from the custy yesterday telling me the windows had dried perfectly clean and all WD40 marks had gone.  She  was really grateful that I had gone round so quickly to rectify the problem and says she will tell everyone about the excellent service she has received.

Might not bring in more work but feels good to be appreciated like that.

Good work, they will never go anywhere else for their cleaning.You got a customer for life and she will no doubt sing your praises to her friends.

I clean a three story charity ran establishment that houses young adults.  Each one lives in a single room with a cooking area in it. 

One of the little tykes who lives in the top floor poured a whole chip pan worth of fat out of his window and it splashed off the open window below it; it was plastic type of 'sash window' that opens outwards; and the fat hit that and splashed over all the other windows.

What a nightmare that was.
