Immersion heater warning !!!

left immersion on in a 650 litre tank last night for 6 hours on timer and the tank has gone out of shape with the heat so be carefull guys  :(

what temp setting were you on, i leave mine on 50 degrees, and it melted the hose from tank to pump, just at the bit that to connects  to the pump so i need some more heavy duty hose for this section i think.

You need to set the thermostat at 60 degrees  as least, or the tank will distort. Youre pump will also get stuffed it only made to take to work at 62 dagress.

Had it on 70 degrees  ;D tank didnt leak but looks a bit fat now  :o

in your house you would set the hot water temp and/or immersion at 50 to 55 degrees at the tap so 60 to 70 is crazy heat. You can set the stat to min which would be about 45. Thats still a very hot shower temperature from a combi boiler.
