Frozen chemicals, bin or safe to use again ?
« on: February 11, 2012, 02:44:05 pm »
Left some of my chemicals in the van last night, was down to -13 in places round here,de foamer will be fine,as will odour fresh, what about fibre and fab rinse,no biggy if it's shot,as only a bit left.
Browning prescription was 5ltr,and nearly full, extraction pro, didn't freeze.fabric restorer contains quite a bit of solvent so that was also ok,multi pro didn't freeze either, did have thick towels wrapped round them, but not enough protection in those temps.
Hoses were all drained out,but still very stiff, brought them inside now too,as the company who I used to repair them, say they will no longer repair, hose ends that have split,so will need to find a company who will,Pirtek ?

Cool, will have to find my nearest one then,as it's a waste to spend out on new hose just for the sake of having the end replaced, plus the fact the company who I use have never been able to supply the Goodyear hose.
Now have black hose on my wand,as they were not prepared to use the Goodyear stuff I took in,not like it's under that much pressure either,on the wand.

The browning prescription should be fine, any cleaning detergents I'd chuck out mate.  Not worth the risk, there could be one ingredient of the mixture rendered useless that completely changes the way it works... or more likely just won't be as effective any more!

Towels aren't going to do anything, just offload them from the van ovenight??!!!

Pirtek will cut the end and put the QC back on.
If you want new QC's putting on though buy them
first as they don't stock them.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

Hi Mark

The chemicals should be ok unles the emulsion has broken in which case you will see sediment/sludge in the bottom.

Water based protectors are easily damaged by freezing.

Len - it won't mix back in again, it will be forever separated.

Some things naturally seperate rather than remain in suspension. So they have a to do something very nerdy in the manufacturing process.

Why not just have powdered products? Powerburst, Pureclean, sod met, sulphamic acid etc. plus your solvent spotters.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

If you really have to put an elastic band round the trigger. We do a lot of night work up here in Scotland and can do 3-4 sites in one night. It's not practical to unload all the kit on every visit so this is what we do to stay safe.

We also put a bucket of hot water in the tanks of any vulnerable machines before setting off from base/job to next.

I leave my protector and pre spray gold at home, unless I know I will need them,as like it's been said, either of them freeze and they are shot.
Will ditch the fibre and fab rinse then, was only a bit left, but don't want to risk it..
Cheers
