I am not ready to fully launch yet but I there will be three options,

Training

Branding

Management, I will build and brand the pages for free for a commission on any work the site brings in so again it is risk free.

It will be launched through CIU at the beginning of next month so keep an eye out....

What I dont understand about Facebook is you say you have put more work into it, whats that, updating your status to 'Cleaned a four-bedder with minging converatory today' and now you are getting enquiries. Surely these people must be your Facebook friends? In which case if they're your friends and are looking for a window-cleaner why didn't they think of you before?

If they're not your Facebook friends what are they doing searching Facebook for a window cleaner for?

That's the best bit about social media.

If your friend LIKES your page, their friend then sees they like it and think.. "hmm, yeah, I'll like that", then say 2 of their friends see it..

The time and effort goes into getting your name known locally through likes and reccomendations. It does take time and effort for it to build....

But it's no good if their friends and their friends friends dont live within lets say 20 miles from you. I bet most people's FB friends live on average 850 miles away. It just seems pointless to me. Imagine the conversation on FB.

'Hiya mate, I see you're a friend of so-n-so, he tells me you're a window cleaner'

'Yes mate, I am, we've been cleaning so-no so's windows for 15 years'

'Oh I know, theyre really impressed with your level of service, could you give us a quote for cleaning our windows please mate?'

Yea sure, whereabouts are you'

The truth of the matter is it's another fine money making effort of Mark Zuckerberg.

He's about to float his baby on the stock market. Think about it.

Another? Why what else has he done? They may have bought other businesses since but facebook but this is his main idea. Other people make money out of their business whether it be 200 quid or 200 billion...

Facebook is his other one. This is advertising on it, two seperate enterprises. He's trying to sell FB to the markets, it's being floated on the stock exchange soon. Making it into something that is a revenue stream means it'll attract a higher price. Its a sales gimmick on his behalf.

There are plenty of ways to generate business without advertising, but even if you do its still worth doing. I wouldnt not use a site just cos they making money, money makes the world go round...

You're right, it's cutting off your nose to spite your face if you advertise because someone will be making some money from it. My point was that Zuckerberg has gone down the advertising angle because it's a good revenue stream for FB coincidentally this has started to really take off not too short a period prior to FB floating. Making it look all the more attractive. However do people REALLY use FB to find services/trades that they need. I just don't think so. It's fir the benefit of those who've got their finger in the FB pie (good for them) and not it's users.

Ask Lee Pryor how much he's thrown at FB, I think he had 100,000 FB ads lined up with them a while back.

Ads do work if targeted correctly but its about building and maintaining a network, they are called social networks for a reason. Networking works in any business, facebook is just the ideal platform to do so.

I brand pages all the time, its too technical to explain on here...

it is a custom page Matt, you need to have it designed and installed on the facebook page, it is a tab normally welcome, this is just one of a few ways for you to get more likes, this type of thing help the page to go viral there are a host of other things also but this is one of them.

Hope that helps ;)

Thanks Ian,

That does help. Is it something that can be done quite easily? I have the image i want to use, but is it difficult to add the welcome page etc? Im assuming its just a matter of adding the image you want to use to the specific page?

Thanks mate,

Matt

I have not read all the posts on this topic but i think facebook and twitter are a good thing for my business i have my twitter account linked to my website to update the news feeds.

But i can't see the point in getting loads of other window cleaners to like my pages it seems silly to have competitors on you facebook page for potential customers to see  ???

Hi

I will have a word with my tech guy and let you know what he uses, as for daves point all networking is good. I would build a local network so if work comes up in an area you dont work then you can pass it on and vice versa...
