Landline v Mobile
« on: February 06, 2012, 10:47:38 pm »
Have seen a few on here and other trades displaying just their mobile phone numbers on their vans. I have both.
Just wondered why people choose to not put their landline number on the van and staionery etc??

Nearly all of the enquiries we get now, are either from website call back, or to mobile.

Even when calling from a land line they call the mobile  :o

mmmm not really sure about that.
I think so many people have mobiles its now an accepted way to be contacted, some people don't have line lines any more it can work out cheaper especially with texting which is now a proffered method of communication.
I also think its a good way of creating that gap between home and business
to me a legit business is someone who pays his taxes not the fact he doesn't have a land line

I never used my landline when I had my round cos I wasnt in when people wanted to talk to me plus I never check the ansaphone lol, I can see why people do put it though. It doesnt guarantee it going to a landline though as you can get local numbers on skype and other voip services so a fly by night could easily fake it....

The peeps round here prefer someone thats local hence putting landline on advertising etc. It could be any old Tom, Dick or Harry with just a moblie!!

Depends on your customer base and where you live.
Certain parts of the South West are retirement areas and therefore the age of the customer coupled with the fact that the culture is considered a little backward by city standards mean lots of potential customers won't ever call a mobile on principle. Down here a land line is a must.

Same as Erith, virtual local number redirected to the mobile  ;)  Also handy if you want to work out of your local area and appear to be local to them.  You can get a local number for £2ppm and about 10p per minute re directed to your mobile, or free if directed to your land line/IP phone.

If you wish to appear to be slightly bigger than a one man band it's also handy to appear to have two office locations, £2 a month and you can have another number.

Mobile is also handy as most people have them and also have free minutes they like to use up.
