Tony just re read the posts. Pump stop and start is usually caused by the inbuilt pressure switch ( I dont use one because of the same prob so I use one that hasnt got one fitted or a pump) have you got a By pass fitted ?

now thats a question

its very light , bright yellow,11.5mm external diametre, what i have found is that i have got the new omnitrolley with a 100psi flojet pump fitted
the trolley came with 20 mtr of normal hose fitted when i fitted 30mtr of microbore to it as well 50mtr in all the flow rate wasnt that good for me so i cut 10mtr of the normal hose off which left 40mtr on the reel (just stating obvious ) the flow rate was brilliant, and as i dont need more than 40mtr on any job i am well satisfied.

best thing jeff is to let alex send you a sample

thanx

jeff ,
kind offer not worried about few pounds i waste so much on development  of products to get things that work well together , the pump does have presure switch i should have put less on the rell , i think i ll stick with the micro bore works well with a 100 psi and a 100 meters on reel makes it light the pump controler likes it as well i will just look around for similar product that does not loop so much .

Re loop, is it twisted ? simply warm it in the house then take it out and untwist, mat also benefit from a slight stretch for an hour.
Narrow bores dont like to be coiled so unreel the whole length before use.
Always work from bigger to smaller towards the brush.

Not sure Gaz try a bit and see. but you dont want the clear plastic stuff B&Q sells its thick wall and goes really stiff with time and ultraviolet light. I use 4mm internal 6mm external

Gaz, I use 30 mtrs airliine hose 6mm inside diametre.
With 2mm jets I have to turn the Varistream down to the 9oclock position.
If I turn it up to 12oclock it shoots water about 10ft from the brush jets.
If I turn the Varistream up to boost, the pump will start shunting.
And that's with a 60psi Surflow. Dai

I'm reading this thread with interest, being a novice to wfp, trying to get things working the best for me.
My setup works, but reeling in the reels surely could be a bit easier, and judging by some of your comments a narrower guage hose would be lighter.
I have a 75psi sureflo pump and a varistream2 controller mainly set at 12 o clock on the dial suits me.  But I need a lot of hose.  At the moment I use 2 reels with 50metres of standard hozelock yellow hose on each one, for some jobs I also need the extra 20metre hose I have.  And sometimes I still need to move everything to get a bit nearer!  Thus I need a minimum of 120metres.  Wears me out winding them up!
With the 75psi pump and varistream, pressure is no problem @ 120m standard hose
How would it perform with narrower guage hose?
Would my 50m hosereels take 100metre x 6mm id hose?

Your 50metre hose reel would easily take 100 metres of 6mm ID hose.

As for pressure We happily run 100 metres off of a 60psi pump.

Thanks for reply Alex.

Do you know if I would experience any conflict with the varistream responding to different pressure from narrower dia. hose, which would increase pressure.
What I mean is, would the varistream still perform well with narrow guage hose?

Thanks Pj

Morph , I have been messing about with 200ft 6mmOD  microbore and thought of you.
Has anyone tried a slave pump ? A small 4 or 7 amp battery and booster pump plugged middway where both your reels join. As long as the water in = the water out should be OK. Its fast to reel in/out OR........maybe use 10mm first half and the last bit that you need to move about, .... in micro.
Just thinking outside the box ! hmm might try it myself  :)

You've lost me man!
You sound like you know what you're talking about.  I'm just a window cleaner.

We're working on different ends of the animal, methinks!
I'll give it some thought.

Its how the fire service (I used to be in) get water miles over long distances by puting a pump in between.
