Hi All
I have so far avoided sealing driveways after cleaning them. I was warned when I first started it could lead to problems if it rained later that day and so on. However, in the drive to becoming more professional in my approach I thought I should ask what process you guys use and what sealer and sprayer you would recommend me look at.
I want to keep the weeds away a bit longer and improve the finished look. Cheers.

I don't understand all the fuss with sealing a drive,  to me it's simple:

1.    I make it a chargeable option.
2.    I always use a water based penetrating sealer which can be used as soon as the surface is dry.
3.    I apply it with sponge mops to get 100% coverage.
4.    I have never had a call back or a problem.

Hi kevin, what sealer do you use mate? can it be applied in damp conditions with it being water based or does it have to be completely dry? Also what is it like at bonding the jointing sand?

when i did sealing i prefer pics acrylic sealer applied with a sprayer with viton seals. it seals the jointing sand and gives a wet look to the blocks. pics will come to site and do the first one for you ie on site training for nowt. acrylics are recoverable if it rains by application of xylene. i stopped doing sealing as i was forever juggling work committments waiting for that elusive dry couple of days. good luck

I use Aqua Mix Penetrating Sealer.  It can be applied as soon as the surface is dry.  Because it is a water based sealer the water evaporates as the polymers in the sealer bond but because it is a MVT Sealer (Breathable) the water that was left in the stone is also allowed to evaporate.  No the sealer will not bond the sand effectively.

Snow foam is what the travellers use. Given sealing a bad name. It's crap anyway, they don't last.
