don't worry too much about the glass, consentrate on the frames first, really scrub these down with plenty of rinsing, you then move onto the glass.

rinse rinse rinse and rinse some more :)
  then repeat !

as said it's all about the frames - to be really sure do all round the house scrubbing and rinsing then go back and give the glass a final rinse.  oh yes try to leave as much time as you can for any lower windows directly under others that may
drip or bring down dirt.

We still do first cleans tradionally, then go round and do them with the pole, its quicker and easier to get all the poop of the frames by hand imo

another useful tip

Do a 'five around'
if when you do a house, and you know the neighbours are trad-try popping a leaflet in the 5 houses left and right of the property each way, and the ten across the street too-youll be amazed at the response you get
When you go back in a few weeks,do the same again
And then again in 6 months
And repeat
And repeat

Good luck and welcome to the wet side of the street ;D
Oh,and get some good gloves

regards

This is how you do a first clean and get the best results....

1st check the frames to see if they are oxidised (they give off white powder on your wet finger) and have a look at the seals to see if they are black rubber on the outside of the glass if this is the case you will have to on the maintanace cleans clean all the windows and then go back to the first and rince 3-6 inches below the top frame, this will stop the drips that come out of them black rubbers for hours after you go (should stop doing this after about 3 cleans, normally soap residue)

right..... on a first clean to get 100% perfect result without scrubbing your arse off.

1. turn the flow on, nice high flow rate will be easier
2. scrub the frames on the window, really get in there turn the brush to get the angle and then rinse the frame.
3. rinse the top frame loads get all that dirt of of it, build up a (head of water) from that top seal and rince about 6 inches top
4.scrub the glass but only rinse about 6 inches from that top frame and leave the window wet and unrinsed
5. do this on all of the windows what your doing in letting the windows get a really good soaking
6. go back to the first window and scrub only the glass but start 6 inches below the top frame imagine that is the top, that is to stop any drips that you have missed and rinse from 6 inches down.
7. turn the brush off and brush the window cill, also on dirty first cleans you can put a towel over the brush head for further drying cleaning, just really on the first time

Sorry you shouldn't be needing 3 cleans to get this right.

if you have frames that leech black treat with TFR or Virosol - scrub and rinse until the water runs clear - as a matter of course i use virosol on 1st cleans as it removes baked on bird strike/algae/grime etc...   no need for tradding or ladders and will leave the frames sparkling and glass spot free - and 1st cleans usually take twice the time of a reg. clean.
