Don't fall for it, it's a con
« on: January 29, 2012, 03:23:38 pm »
This nwc rubbish is just awful.
Your signing up to/paying for key words for people looking for window cleaners on the net.

Google and yell are more powerfull and better also people will click there b4 they click on ur sponsored links to your awful mini sites

You will be part of a list in order to place your bids for work driven through the nwc sites.
When /it comes in.
It's just another form of advertising and a poor one at that.

I was talking to one of their boys not to long ago when he was cleaning the natwest bank.
His words...I have many of customers I do which they don't know about, also a lot of back handers going on between staff and employees ..

Don't get caught up in this game, it looks rosey now, it will be in tatters soon.

They will threaten small business and pocket loads of cash with out declaring it was also what we heard.

I hope you're sure of your facts there, London, as you're making a very dangerous set of allegations in your last three lines.

Not that you'd ever post something that wasn't accurate, of course...

I know this is off topic but this post caused me to take a look at the site, I am not sure how much work is being generated through this but I can see several flaws. These are just my observations but I wouldnt use the site as a customer because you have no idea who you are dealing with on a local level. If I was looking for another window cleaner due to being unhappy with my current one how would I know I wasnt just contacting them again? If I did decide to put my details into the site and was then contacted by another company I would then question who I was dealing with. It needs to be more transparent for me and each mini page needs to state who the local contractors are so people can make an informed decision before putting in their details.

Final note to london, I would be very careful and have proof of your statements before you start posting its a con.... If you have then fair enough but if not its a dangerous statement...

I should have added that I have my doubts as well; I've posted them before.

What does interest me is that the other day they were telling us that they had seven domestic leads in one day.  Well, I've had that many in a day more than once and I'm a one-man-band in a single small city.  For this, they are raking in a lot of money.

Also, kicking it off in midwinter (while still charging full fees right from the start) seemed to me to be an interesting and profitable strategy on their behalf.

Also, as I pointed out elsewhere, if they sell every postcode, they'll be turning over around £950k per annum in subscriptions.  That's either going to buy a staggering amount of SEO or a lot of holidays in the Bahamas.  That's all good and they are entitled to run any business they choose; you just need to be aware of that - it's a business (potentially very profitable) not a charity working on your behalf.

I have looked at it but to be honest i can see the point for what it costs.

at the moment if i search for a " window cleaner erith  "  my site is already close to the top  ;D ;D

but now i've said this they will boost their seo and push my site down the list  :) :)

plus i don't want big commercial work like what saj needs to do a quote for  :( and i can't see the point in selling the work to the big boys for 10%

regards erithwc

I live in a very affluent part of the country, most of my clients have come from word of mouth. I was chatting to a customer not so long ago and her assumption of these national companies was, they start of cheap, then hike the prices....

I'm still adding customers where this lady lives,  I think anyone signing up was doing so out of desperation!!!

I wait to be proven wrong ;)

Rob.

Life used to be full of up's and downs....now i hardly ever get up a ladder :) .

The beauty and Curse of a forum............

I'm not convinced of the NWC as the cost is high for whats provided & it's certainly a good earner for those running it.
(& fair play to them for that ! )

but to start a thread with that sort of unfounded statement is just WRONG.

Hi

Londoncleaners you are welcome to your views but if its not for you why waste your time putting it down, you have said you have an empire, put your time into this as it can always be bigger.

For the record your getting us confused with a different company with a similar name so tread very carefully as the MD does have an account on here and will not take kindly to your comment in a personal or business way.

Are links are not sponsered they are organic links in google, yell is more powerfull and a lot more money and you have to go through yell and also get shown to the public alongside all your compertition.

Rest assured in my 10 years of business and the 40 years of business jvprice has been in a brown envelope has not been passed to gain any work,

Make sure you have some weight in future in your comments when discussing my businesses or anyone elses.

He didnt say it was hearsay in op, he made a statement that it was a con. Thats a bit strong from anyone and I dont think it right to make such statements UNLESS he had proof. He didnt so not the best move....

it's not for me, but what does annoy me is the fact that this forum is the vehicle for the whole business, without it it would probably never get off the ground.
They aren't the only ones to run their business through the forum by recruiting people either but It doesn't seem right to me.

Hi Mark

Thanks for the comment, the reason its popular on here and we like the fact of everyone discussing it is we want good and bad feedback to make it better and better, hopefully in time we can win you over.

We have been building a database over the last 3 months and will be starting tele sales on monday its going to be fun going through 6000+ contacts

Another reason for listing on here is this is a really good place to find good guys that take a bit more interested in their trade.

May I ask the 6000, do you mean introducing the national database to commercial customers - just asking out of interest thats all really.......

No these are window cleaners to join NWC

On a contract basis of national contracts we hope to bring to the contractors that have joined, we have the procurment managers details for every high street chain just as a start, we have also discussed the concept with one of the largest department stores in the UK and they love the idea.
