When did 'water fed pole' first start in the UK?
« on: January 18, 2012, 05:15:23 pm »
And who first came up with the idea of using  pure water? Just curious.

Was it before or after the legislation or whatever it is with regard to ladder use?

I had my very first home made system in 2001
Bought poles from OTT (Ionics)

I think the Americans used Tucker Poles about 30 years ago.

The first time I came acros it was around 1996/97.  How I wish I had got in to it straight away. However, I was told that it would cost £30k to set up so didn't bother.

A man of your means and you couldn't find  £30k?  ;)

Yea Tucker first started it in the 50s. Mind you, there wasn't much in the way of water purification, I think they just used very soft water. Not sure when Reverse Osmosis and DI was introduced to the retail market.

20k!  :o  :o  :o  :o

That is extortionate. Even then a DIY system could have been set up for little more then what you can do now. Everything apart from custom made tank frames would have been available.
