Chewing gum removal
« on: January 16, 2012, 05:49:37 pm »
Hi ,

Been asked to remove chewing gum from a block paving AND tarmac. I will be pressure washing the areas with cold water so need something that is going to remove the gum on both surfaces.

Any suggestion guys?

John

Pencil jet can remove gum with cold but will also damage the surface. Buy a hot box or get it done by someone else properly.

Is there nothing available to dissolve or break down the gum like in carpet cleaning (very different I know)?  ;D

I was thinking more for the tarmac really. Will look in to getting a pencil jet sorted, thanks!

even if using a hot box be carefull on the tarmac, do a sample patch first  as some tarmac is very soft and you will have to use a steamer on it which is much slower

There is a solution for paving, I've tried it but didn't see how it would work. Load of bull IMO.
