Gutter Hedgehog supply and fit
« on: January 15, 2012, 11:49:18 am »
Anyone doing the supply and fit of gutter-hedgehogs?
Thought of adding this as a side line but is a self defeating service if your not going to clean out the gutters?
Just wondered if you do fit them, whats the take up like from your customers?and what are you charging?

Thanks

I always persuade my customers not to fit any type of gutter guard because:

A: It makes gutter clearing much more difficult

B: It allows build up of debris on top of gutter guard which still has to be removed

C: Build up of debris can prevent water from getting into the guttering
The pen is mightier than the sword (and a lot easier to write with!)

rg1. I agree. A mesh over the top of the gutter is game over for future cleaning.

But I think the gutter hedgehog is slightly different - a sort of long cylindrical brush which sits in the gutter and stops leaves etc settling inside the gutter whilst allowing the water to flow.

I've got no experience of them but somebody is making them, hence some people must be buying them. Can imagine them getting very messy with leaf mould and moss etc.

At the end of the day I don't think anyone has really found the perfect alternative to having the gutters cleaned (hopefully by me  ;D)

I've fitted them recently at a customers request. It was a 2 minute job, all you need is a pair of pliers to cut it to the required length.
