I have a small domestic cleaning business in Wiltshire. Our trade is mainly acquired through door to door leaflet dropping (have tried newspaper display ads - proved to be a total waste of time - and will be going into next Yellow Pages edition).
We are looking to take things up a gear in 2006 and possibly branch out into wider territory. However, the results we get from leaflets drops (the most we manage to hand deliver per week is 2000 leaflets, due to spending most of our time "on the job") are not high enough to attract the amount of work we need to take the business to the level we wish to reach. (dont get me wrong, our leaflets do consistently produce an acceptable amount of work in proportion to the quantity delivered - the problem is is we simply do not have enough time to deliver the quantity needed to take things to a higher level).
We are considering leaflet drops by free newspapers, in order to get blanket coverage, and are considering having 50,000 leaflets dropped this way (cost in this area is around £20 incl VAT with paper, or £55 solus).
I wondered if anyone has experience of using this method of leaflet dropping. I appreciate that a leaflet in a newspaper does not have the same impact as a leaflet hand delivered on its own, but there is no way we could reach 50,000 houses in anything less than 6 months with hand delivery. Plus, if we want to reach areas further afield there are fuel and travelling time expenses to consider (after all that's taken into consideration, could be just as cost effective to have them distributed by the newspapes). It would seem, in theory, that we could take things further faster by using newspaper distribution.
Any feedback, experiences or ideas appreciated...
