Solution Pump Question
« on: December 21, 2011, 07:44:53 pm »
Hi All

In a portable all the pumps I've seen will only cope with water up to 65-70 degrees C. Are there any pumps that are suitable for a portable that will cope with higher temps.

Regards
Eddie

I think the short answer is no, Eddie

I think the problem lies in the fact that materials expand and contract with varying heat, so the tolerances are set to operate within a certain temperature limit.

Also, things like pump seals or diaphragms are an issue... the type of material they're made from varies, depending on whether they need to mostly resist heat or chemical or other things.... probably a compromise is reached in specifying materials used to fulfil the widest expected range of tasks.

What does the Zeta use for a pump then?
Or is the water heated after the pump?

Spot on John, Just like any heated p/w or TM, the pump pushes ambient temp. water through the heat exchangers :)

Use the right type of cleaning solution and you do not need hot water.

Comet do the Centurion HT ( high temp) pump that handles high temps and Hypro do a pump that will also handle 80degrees both these are stocked by Dual pumps but i don't know any manufacturers that fit these pumps.

an imline heater or something like the zeta are the only options if you want hot water with a portable
