I was doing my OAP bunglows on friday. These oldies are the salt of the earth. Some want to give you a fiver and they only have their pension to live on.
Yesterday I was working on Marina town houses. Twin mercs on the drive. Not one penny piece in tips. Matt's rich tax is about to be applied in the next price increase.

Got to say Dai same here.......

And i am sorry to hear that no one else on here gets xmas tips.

I am well aware that they need to be declared...... and they will!!!

I do not begrudge giving Tony and Gordon my hard earned cash to spend in the most appropriate way. I am sure that they know better that me, a poor window cleaner, how to run this wonderful country in a fair, deomcratic and just way.

I am only sorry that i will have to wait until I declare it in my tax return.

We do this old lady's house for £8. It's a bungalow and takes 3 of us minutes and it's in between 2 good priced jobs so we don't really mind.

The old bird is not really with it and today she gave us 50p each to buy a Christmas drink with.

Cheers

Two days ago I did some fairly large houses; not 'rich league'; but affluent people.  Most paid by cheque and not one tip.

Today we started by doing six pensioners.  Three houses; three bungalows.  Five of them gave us a tip; two of them tipped me a fiver even though I only charge them £4.50 for their bungalow.  I tried to refuse; honest.  Being on a fixed income, the money probably means more to them than to us.

The only one that didn't tip me didn't answer the door.  Her curtains were closed and I know this old girl is house-bound.

Being house-bound doesn't stop her 'telling me off' though, but she tips me a couple of quid extra every month; only after complaining about a sill I haven't wiped or something.  She's a bit of a character.

Anyway, I knocked both her neighbors and asked if they knew where she was.  They didn't and said she should be in.  She only goes out on Thursdays.

I even got my ladders out to see if I could peek through the curtains.  I couldn't.

In the end one of the 'old dears' gave me the Warden's mobile number; so I phoned him and he said he'd check on her.

I don't know the outcome yet, but I hope she's okay.

I haven't been paid yet.

I'm joking.  I hope the old gal is okay, regardless of getting paid or not.

Oh, and is there a special offer on tins of Quality Street?

We've been given two in two days.

Tips so far £2 on a £3 house, and £9 on a £6 house.Does any body give customers Xmas cards,Got one tonight from wheelie bin cleaner,I felt even more compelled to give him a tip.He charges £1.40 per clean and i always give him £2 as i think the job he does is worth that.Didn't tip the collector tonight as i did not recognise him and i wanted to make sure the guy that cleans them gets the tip rather than the collector

I save them up and spend them on things I wouldn't splash out on otherwise.

This year:  A new lens for my camera.
A couple of Xbox and Ps2 games.
                A Dvd.
A weekend in London.... not sure what else yet, but it's nice to have. :D
