« on: December 05, 2005, 06:25:13 pm »
hi every1, hope christmas is bringing all the well earned bonuses ha, ha,
could you please help me ive receently started up on my own, abit hard at the moment but i know things will get better. its pricing that killing me i think, i have just priced 6 jobs at 85p per window and didnot get one. so some input on this would be great, and do you think that canvasing at this time of year is a waste of time, thanks for taking the time to read this. all the best and a happy xmas to you all.

Hi you'll find a post on the main board re canvasing, if you havent already found it. prices seem to vary quite a bit for differant areas, if your not getting the work consistantly, lower the price untill you do or find a more affluent area.

Is that domestic or commercial?

When you say 85p per window, I take it that you mean per window frame rather than per window pane?  If it's per window frame then I would suggest that you do not drop your prices.  In some areas, that is a bit on the low side.

Hi mate

Them prices seem fine to me, always remeber it not always all about the price it's more about perception of your company and they way you promote, sell and deliver your service.

I agree - and what you look and sound like on their doorstep is important too.

Hi Madgaz,

It,s Paul from doorknockers

We canvass all the time, we plan to work all the way up to Thursday next week, and sales with us have,nt slowed down at all, where are you based?

We have contracts with window cleaners all over the country and go with the rate they are happy for us to work at, however we generally charge 70p for a double pane framed window, 3 pane about a £1, 4 pane £1.40 etc, we count a glassed door as 1 window or 70p

We charge approx £10 for a 3 bed semi, £6 for a 2 up and 2 down terraced house, full list of prices on http://www.windowcleaner.4t.com

Other reasons for slow customer take up, could be, excellent w/c in the area, other canvassing company like mine having recently worked that area, your pitch, the way you look, not knocking at the right time (best time being 4pm-8pm) by law you are not allowed to doorknock after 8pm.

Hi Paul,  thanks for the reply, I'm from kent. I dress very smart when i went out and all i say is sorry to bother you, Im from G.S window cleaning services and wondered if you had a window cleaner, if they say yes its then thanks very much and away I go. I had one lady, she said she had a W/C but if i could quote less then the job was mine, I just told her sorry but i would not quote because she al ready had one and moved on, I;m not trying to take work away from others just to get some for myself. I think I'm going to wait until after xmas and start again, thanks for posting and shareing the priceing with me all the best and happy xmas to all that read this post.

Im starting my canvasing on the 1st of january, about 1pm when everyones gonna be awake lol. This will be my first time so im not sure how it will go. I certianly wont be taking business from another W/C. I had the impression other W/Cs beat you up for taking there road, but after a little talk i realised it wasnt correct, lol.

 :)Hi Gaz

its tempting to apologise for bothering people......Dont !

just start with introducing yourself and what you do and ask if they would like you to quote them, if its yes then quote them if its no then thank them for their time and leave them a card or flyer anyway.

good luck  mike
