tape/residue

Need some help.
Went to a new customer today and she has a house that is two years old but the protective tape that is on all new windows when installed is still on the frames on the inside and she cant get it off. It flakes off in little bits and you just cant get it to peel off like it should. She is a professional cyclist and had been away a lot over the two years and never got round to taking it off. Is there any chemicals that can be used or has anyone got any ideas on how it can be done. By the way it is a fairly big house.

the problem is that the tape disintegrates when you try to peel it off and comes off in flakes.

white spirt I used to use on builders cleans also sugar soap and hot water, would not use any stanley/razor blades at all as it will take off coating off frames making them get dirty quicker.

Don't waste your time with it is my advice.
The owner will have a guarantee on the house (being 2 years old) and the builders should rectify the problem as it is a result of their faulty workmanship. It should also have come up on there 'snagging' list things to be done.
That stuff is a pain to get off once it's been on as long as that.
