Chewing Gum Remover
« on: November 23, 2011, 05:25:20 pm »
We've got some jobs for a client in France in January (the only one we take chewing gum off for) and are looking for the latest and greatest. We've tried OJ, Solution (2 products) but none really made the job easy. Anyone got an super dupa products they know of?

I know you'll poo-poo this idea, I know I would if I didn't know any differently. But a highly acclaimed carpet cleaner told me that the best thing was BBQ lighting gel. My first ever school job we actually resorted to using it with fantastic, though smelly (Paraffiny) results. The headmaster was well chuffed with the results. The carpets came to no harm as we clean them every year...

Apparently chewing gum is a petroleum derivative which is why it emulsifies when it comes into contact with the lighter gel....

I liked rid-a-gum also but later went onto blasting with steam and rubbing the residual away with orange gel from Texatherm

We don't use Gel now Simon, we use "Gum Off It" with a scraper tool from Solution with excellent results... My 12 year old lad does a cracking job. Maybe it's a case of you haven't got a clue how to use Gum Off It, Simon... Give my boy a ring and he'll teach you.... ;)

I find the way i learnt on the Ashby's course very good. Loosen it with a hand held steam cleaner add some citrus gel mix it up a bit with a scraper and wipe off with a towel. I have used this loads of times on chewing gum with excellent quick results. I have also used the same technique in a factory office where blue tack is used in the manufacturing process and it was all over the carpet, it again worked really well. I think Derick Ashby has a video of it on You Tube somewhere.

I use bazooka spray from prochem. It comes in a can and think you are supposed to use it with the bazooka gun.
But I just spray from the can leave it a while and scrape off.
If a remember correctly is was only about £8.00
